Are You Kidding Me.... Today in the News 5/27/2014:

Opening Statement:
Leading off Today in the News on this first work day of the week for many who had the last 3-4 days off are 2 stories I am following.

The first story is Here we go again. Fix 50 West Bound lanes are expecting to create havoc along the freeways for the next month or so with the closing of lanes. The first and last day of the East Bound fix were the big issues during that phase. Lets hope with the lessons learned from those closures and repairs the same mistakes won't happen again.

The other story I am following is the Hunter Fire in Mariposa County. at least 100 homes needed to be evacuated as this raging fire moves through 500 acres +. Cal Fire is reporting with the drought conditions the fire is burning at a pace of what it would be like in July/August not end of May like it is.

I will be sure to update these 2 stories and much more in Today in the News....

Ken's Manly Minute: How To Be A Happy Dad
Why are some fathers happier than others? Is it money? Possibly. Their personality? Their outlook on life? All good theories, but although dads have been searching for the key to happiness for centuries, no one’s really thought to leave the search to science — at least not until very recently. In the past decade or so, social scientists have been quietly zeroing in on exactly what makes us positively giddy. And it’s all finally starting to come together. Here are 5 scientifically proven ways a father can end the day on a happy note. Make a plan. Try something new. Take a nap. Unplug. Get some sun.

Final #Questionoftheday: What skills class did you take in High School.

Good Day in a Nutshell

Good Day Sacramento:
Leading off this day is Tina is back and she brought Fix 50 back with her. Not really it as scheduled but Tina is showing the traffic throughout the morning. Ken started off Show and Tell with him going out to buy a blow up pool for his backyard. Marianne chimed in on the second Show and Tell with Jack Hanna at Starbucks. Jack is an animal expert. Today's 5am Club member was introduced. Ken had a California Chrome update. Marianne's Daily List talked about home remedies for First Aid issues such as using bacon to stop a bloody nose. Today's Question of the Day was Who would be a good Carpool mate? Today's Show us yours was Fridge.

In this hour Ken had a California Chrome update. Fix 50 traffic is still a mess. Marianne's Daily Joe talked about a dad who does Sandwich Bag Art. Amy was in Auburn with Alex Honnold. Alex is a rock climber, Alex doesn't use ropes or harnesses. ARE YOU CRAZY!!! Alex is AWESOME!!!

In this hour traffic continues to worsen for Fix 50. Ken talked to Brian Cooley about what is next from Apple. Ken had his hourly California Chrome update. Courtney's Check this out was a lantern that repels bugs.

In this hour Ken had his California Chrome Update. Local Bike Shop TPJ Customs, Bryan Schimke joined to talk about his custom bike he and his shop built for a Discovery Channel contest. You can vote for his bike by tweeting his ship with #BikerLife. Dukes of Hazard Star John Schneider joined to talk about his new show called Haves and Have nots. Amy continued with Alex as he showed his climbing ability. Court's Tunes was played. Today's #9amtopic was from a mom who helped her daughter in a school prank by listing Oakmont High School for sale for $2014. So today's question was I don't care what you offer___ is #PricelesstoMe. Finally Fix 50 traffic is now a nightmare. It took Tina and Dave over 30 minutes to travel 4 miles.

In the final hour Tina had Sonora High School Students in the kitchen teaching how to make sushi. Lori and Julissa teamed up to guide us through the hour and today's #9amtopic. Cambi was in Sacramento looking at some amazing artist's work as they paint dumpsters in time for Second Saturday. Before leaving for BREAKING Fix 50 news Amy filed a report about Alex and his climbing ability. Ken's Manly Minute talked about How to be a happy dad. Tina's final question of the day was What Skills Class did you take in High School.

Final Thoughts:
Today on Good Day Sacramento most of the gang was back together. Missing was Mark, Laura and of course Cody who returns tomorrow but that did not stop the 5 1/2 hours of a fun jammed packed show that featured Courtney talking about a new bug lantern in Check this out, Ken giving California Chrome updates, Marianne's Daily List and Daily Joe plus the normal 430/5am fun stuff that falls under Producer Tessa's watch.
Because Laura was off and Audrey is out Julissa had to slide over to help Ron Jones on CBS13 it meant Lori Wallace covered weather on Good Day today. Love when we get a special edition of Lori Wallace.

If you are over the age of 35 you most likely remember Dukes of Hazards, well today Bo Duke aka John Schneider joined Ken and Marianne to talk about his new project with Tyler Perry Have and Have Nots starting tonight.

Spider-man Spider-Man if Alex can't climb it no one can. Amy was in Auburn talking to and watching Alex (last name) climb a cliff without ropes or a harness. That is impressive and way better than me. I have trouble climbing a step stool let alone a cliff without a rope or harness. He is a true to life Spider-man. But my question is how does he get down without a rope to repel down?

One thing I regret most about high school was not making better decisions in classes took. I wish today I had taken a cooking class because I suck at wood making and when I took wood shop my birdhouse became a cutting board that's how bad it was. I now suck at wood making and cooking but the kids from Sonora High School that came in to make sushi all have a bright future in the culinary and/or catering business after school. These kids could probably work for Mikuni's now that's how good they are.

I most likely will never be a father but in today's Manly Minute with Ken he talked about 5 things that will make a dad happy. I never really had a father because the bio dad left at age 4 and when we started to build a relationship he passed away and my step dad was only alive for 8 years. I miss having a dad in my life so take advantage of what you have and do whatever possible to make your dad happy even if that means giving him some alone time according to the Manly Minute.

I love people who can take a skill and use it to create something beautiful. I am not saying dumpsters are beautiful but if you take what the amazing artists did with dumpsters as shown by Cambi today on Good Day then that is pretty amazing and you can view these dumpsters on second Saturday in June on Power Inn Road Sacramento.

Finally The Wrath of Fix 50 has hit us once again. Even the alternative routes suggested created nightmares. Traffic in one spot saw delays up to 40 minutes. 50 in itself saw Tina and Dave delayed over 30 minutes just to go 4 miles. ARE YOU KIDDING ME! For those who work downtown, West Sacramento, The Bay Area I feel sorry for you especially If you have to sit through that. One report later today from a media source said traffic in LA is better than the 50 traffic. (Sac Bee).

Tomorrow we get back to normal with Good Day and Fox40 plus Cody returns and Tina is Dishin so look for that and more tomorrow.
