Getting A Kick Out Of.... Today in the News 4/23/2014:

Opening Statement:
Yesterday I attended the Sac State vs. Oregon State Baseball Game at Sac State. This was game 2 of the 2 game series these 2 teams would play with Sac State taking game 1 Oregon State took game 2 with a score 8-1. The reason I attended the game in case you are new to reading this is because my niece goes to school at Oregon State so anytime I get to cheer on her school or see one of the teams play live I'm going to. The game was a very good game but the part that I really liked seeing was to the left of me. Though the picture doesn't show all of them, about 20 pro scouts charting pitches, and taking notes about the players on the field throughout the game I thought it was so awesome to see that. photo 1 photo 2 photo 3 photo 4 photo 5

Quick Thought:
Fix 50 Day 2

My58: It's Just A Drill

Fox40: Comedy Hour, Pizza Kitchen and Wine.

Good Day Get's a Kick out of Soccer, Spider Man Spider Man... David Garibaldi Paints Dishin With Tina

All this and more in Today in the News....

Recap:
My58: Today though it was talked about on all 3 stations I decided to use the story about an Emergency Drill in Folsom for the My58 entry because they posted video and quite honestly it was the best story they had other than Fix 50 which was an all day story yesterday. The other story that caught my eye was good foods that might be bad for you in their Consumer Report. Just because it might be good doesn't mean it is good for you with the amount of sugar and other ingredients used in it.

Fox40: Talking with Bruce Baum today who looks like Gallagher or even Crosby from Crosby Stills and Nash and sometimes Young who is trying to clear his name with a Kickstarter campaign to me sounded like he is just trying to get money. I did enjoy the Arsenio Hall interview however and of course Sabrina talking Wine in Roseville

Good Day Sacramento:
430/5am:
Ken started today's Show and Tell off with Taye Diggs following him on Twitter creating a man crush. Cody had a double show and tell 1 of which should bring him the father of the century the other Robert Downey Jr. looking like he is part of Fix 50 in his vest. Marianne also had Show and Tell with a picture of a picture of a cat in a vending machine at KFBK Radio. Marianne also had your Daily List. The 5am Club member just celebrated her 51st and looks like she's 30. Mark was in for News of the Weird with a TV station performing a recycle rap. Today's Show us yours Soccer Star.

6am:
In this hour Mark hung out with the GREAT David Garibaldi who is painting for Charity Thursday night at Crest Theater. Tickets are still available. Marianne had a very disturbing Daily Joe with a belly button video. (DON'T BE EATING!!!) Julissa was hanging out at Mikuni's and 2 players from Sac Republic FC. Amy was in El Dorado checking out the return of the Mule Shoe from The Where and Wears of El Dorado.

7am:
The 7am hour got loud. First the GREAT David Garibaldi painted a Statue of Liberty the only way he can. Amy got a Nightgown to Night on the Town Fashion Show from Where and Wears of El Dorado. Courtney did a Check this out with Sprinkle Gravy. Yes, its gravy in a jar that you sprinkle on rather than pour on. Ken said it was salty. City of Vain closed out the hour with their song We are Republic for Sac Republic FC. Julissa continued from Mikuni's revealing the Republic Roll.

8am:
WELCOME BACK LAURA!!! Also in this Hour Fans of Sac Republic FC got tattoos to support the team and Cody might get one too. Mark talked to Andrew Garfield who was in Mountain View giving back by planting trees. Court's Tunes was played. Ken talked to a Yuba City couple who are Co-Owners of California Chrome, a Favorite for the Kentucky Derby. Amy was at Sac State teetering on the Worlds Largest Teeter Totter for Charity. The 9amtopic was introduced I am a walking Billboard for___ #BiggestFan.

9am:
Laura and Julissa took us through the 9am hour and today's #9amtopic as well as Cody hanging out with local fans getting Republic FC tattoos. Mark continued from Mountain View interviewing stars from Spider Man 2 including Jamie Foxx and Emma Stone. Amy continued from Sac State on the Teeter Totter. Courtney previewed Haute Stuff event taking place this weekend. Ken's Manly Minute today talked about how you could own a Race horse and it's Wednesday so that means Tina was Dishin With Tina with La Huaca in Roseville. No word of who will be featured this Sunday.

Final Thoughts:
As Fix 50 continues today the 3 shows did not have wall to wall coverage like they did yesterday. Did it rule most of the news blocks? Yes it did. However the coverage was much more viewer friendly however I still saw nothing wrong with how Good Day covered it yesterday and based on reports I heard they had the best coverage of all 4 stations including News 10.

The other story I thought was kind of cool covered on all 3 stations I talk about here is the training Drill at Folsom Dam. I love when agencies get together to train in big emergency drills. They are so fun to watch.

On Fox40 in about an hours time they talked Wine Down in Roseville this weekend and to 2 comedians Bruce Baum who is trying to raise money to clear his name and to Arsenio Hall who just had his late night show picked up again by Fox. Arsenio did talk about the future of Late Night as well.

One thing I love about Good Day is they are not afraid to take risks within reason and still comply with FCC rules.

Today what other station will go out and make Sushi, paint with a rock star painter and can sell shoes all before 7am. No one that I know expect Good Day Sacramento that's who.

Today's Good Day Sacramento had a lot of others things to offer but 4 themes of the show consisted of Spider-Man, Sacramento Republic FC, Horse Racing and of course Wednesday isn't Wednesday without Dishin With Tina. So what's the deal with that?

Sacramento Republic FC plays their first home game this Saturday and yes it's soccer and though I'm not a fan a lot of people are including Taro from Mikuni's who with help from 2 members of the team created a Republic roll for the menu and Julisaa was all over this story because she might be the biggest fan however as I was writing this story just announced KHTK Carmichael Dave will serve as the analyst for the teams games. Also today on Good Day Sacramento fans lined up to show their Forever lasting support by getting a tattoo of the teams logo. I admit I love Good Day Sacramento Mark at the Movies and the Buffalo Bills but I WILL NEVER get a tattoo to show my love unless someone is giving me $1 million tax free.

The Kentucky Derby is a week from Saturday on May 3rd and today Ken talked to a Yuba City couple about the favorite California Chrome who they Co own. In addition to talking to these owners Ken's Manly Minute talked about how to own a race horse including putting down a $2 wager which apparently doesn't pay much if the horse wins.

Mark went to Mountain View earlier this week and talked to the stars of Spider Man 2 while they gave back to the environment planting bushes. Spider-Man 2 is in theaters May 2 Starring Andrew Garfield Emma Stone and Jamie Foxx.

One other story from the desk of former CBS13 Reporter now independent Laura Cole. Sacramento City officials ban media helicopter from early morning fly overs of Fix 50 after residents complain of noise. I can tell you only 1 station in the area has a helicopter so without naming names I will be recoding that stations news from 430-7am before they give way to NBC Today Show to see if the rules are complied with and I will report tomorrow in Final Thoughts along with my Idol recap and all of your Good Day Sacramento highlights including Marianne getting her kitchen inspected and much more....

Looking Ahead to what's coming up on Good Day Sacramento:
Thursday:
Marianne's Kitchen Inspection
Gina ThriftTown

Friday:
Dance Party Friday

Saturday:
Good Day Weekend w/ Cody and Amy

Sunday:
Good Day Weekend w/ Cody and Amy
