HAPPY 2014! To all of you and your families. A very special Happy New Year to those in the media that make this possible and assist me as much as they can, as well as all the readers. Thank you so much. I have a lot of new ideas for 2014 to hopefully make Today in the News better.

Final Thoughts:
At the time of this writing the New Year is about 11 hours old on the West Coast and today we saw Cody team up with Marianne at the desk with Courtney doing some traffic and Audrey doing news. We also saw Sean report from Old Sacramento where only 10 people out of an estimated 20K were cited and/or arrested at last nights event making it a truly fun time for all those who attended and Mark took the Rivers Edge Hangover Challenge but fell short.
In the 6am hour as I previously mentioned Mark covered the 3rd Annual Rivers Edge Cafe Hangover Challenge with 4 different viewers. Marianne had our Daily Joe, Courtney did a Check this out.... Super Fruit... Pichuberry.. Apparently this fruit has a nice smell but the taste is not a favorite. Cody talked about a study that says people who have Smart Phones are smarter than those who may not, so Cody put Marianne to the test with the Smart Phone quiz.
In the 7am hour Mark completed the challenge and normally the winner of any food challenge this one Mark fell short giving it to a local viewer.who had to eat 3lbs of food in 30 minutes or less. Mark also gave his top 10 2013 Movies and who he thinks will take home the Oscar.. In the 8am hour Mark took the plunge... The Polar Bear Plunge. Courtney was the music director today to play the movie edition of Court's Tunes. Marianne talked about a new edition of American Girl Doll just released today.Marianne and Cody talked to the creator of the Harley Hog Ride taking place today.
In the final hour of Good Day Sacramento for the first show of the year Marianne and Cody ran the #9amtopic. Cody tasted the food from A & K BBQ which was the feature this week on Dishin with Tina. I'm pretty sure Cody did not need any extra incentive to be the official taste tester today... This food looked so good you could almost smell the goodness through the screen. Courtney got her walk on with the Sacramento Walking Sticks Walking Club who are in their 40th year of walking this year, Mark continued to report from the Polar Plunge and as a staple of Wednesday's Tina was Dishin with Tina. You can see these segments on Sunday's in the 8/10am hour of Good Day Sacramento Weekend and Wednesday in the 9am hour of Good Day Sacramento.
