Opening Statement:
Today's Opening Statement is based off a very Hot Topic in the news that I have been avoiding up until now.
For everyone who reads this PLEASE DO NOT TAKE my answer the wrong way. I have been thinking about this for a very long time. I am part Native American. I am a football fan and I am a history buff so I understand all sides of this argument. As I said I am part Native American and the word being used is offensive to me however being used as a sports name the word does not offend me. When I lived in NY the High School my sisters attended was called Oriskany Redskins. If you are not familiar Oriskany NY is a very small town about an hour away from Syracuse. The town is very rich in history as well. The 1777 Battle of Oriskany, during the American Revolution, was fought west of the modern village. At the time of the battle, the Oneida village of "Oriska" was located near the battlefield. The location is marked by the Oriskany Battlefield State Historic Site.
The village was founded in 1811. The Erie Canal passed through the village until it was re-routed during major re-routing and reconstruction later in the 19th Century. The town also has an Aircraft Carrier name after it that is no longer in Service. USS Oriskany But I am not here to talk about the name of the town I grew up in I am to discuss the name of Redskins. Like I said the meaning of the word is offensive much like the N word is offensive. The name of a football team does not. However public outcry speaks volumes and much like the Washington Wizards they too had to change the name from the Bullets. I think it's time to end this debate once and for all and give the people what they want and change the name. Washington is rich in history I am sure the people of Washington DC can put their minds together and come up with a name that ALL people White, Black, Hispanic, Native, American and Pacific Islander can all agree on. Losing your Trademark is HUGE because advertising dollars could soon follow and rather lose money it's better to save face and do what people are fighting for.

In this hour Breaking News took the normal time away of Show and Tell. The 5am hour did have it's normal activity which included Cody sharing Producer Tessa's Doctor Who dress complete with a bow tie. Tina introduced the duel 5am Club Members. Marianne's Daily List talked about 3 bad habits that can drain your energy including skipping your workout when tired. Today's Question of the day was I'd love to do ___ this weekend. Today's Show Us Yours was Hot Rods in preparation of Race Sonoma.
6am:
In this Speed Racer hour Marianne talked about the new Entrepreneur Barbie, and New Kittens at the Philadelphia Zoo. Jason had a Truck Tracker Update and Doug was hanging out with the NASCAR Haulers in West Sacramento before they head to the Hauler Parade in Sacramento.
7am:
In this hour comedian and Sacramento Native Key Lewis joined Cody and Ken in studio to talk about the show Funniest Wins. Doug was continuing from the NASCAR Haulers event and he talked about the NASCAR store in Roseville, Hunts Race World. Melissa was at Lakeshore Learning Store in Roseville checking out new fun games kids can play and still continue to learn.
8am:
In this hour Kristin checks out the preparation of Make A Wish Farm for one young girl that will be revealed on Saturday. Melissa was in Roseville asking if Cody and Marianne are smarter than a 5th Grader. Teens Tunes was played. Yogurtland dropped off yogurt as the official sponsor of the Critics Choice TV Award. Doug gave tickets away to Race Sonoma and a mom and her twins stopped by to talk about their appearance on Steve Harvey. With the new Barbie being released today's #9amtopic was What advice would you give to a young entrepreneur.
9am:
Melissa was in Roseville shopping at Jane's a new antique store. Kristin was helping a Make A Wish come true for a special little girl. Ken was getting his workout in with an 80 year old couple in Folsom. Gina from Thrift Town was teaching how to make a Baseball Wreath. Ken has his Manly Minute talking about ways to workout over the age of 70. Stanford Inn by the sea was in the Good Day Kitchen making Sea Palm Strudel. Cody and Julissa took us through today's #9amtopic and the hour. Tina's Final Question was Where did you get your first paycheck.

Doctor Who Dress:
If you love Doctor Who you will love today's Show and Tell from Cody. Producer Tessa ordered a Doctor Who Dress off the BBC Website and debuted it today. It even comes with a Bow Tie.
NASCAR:
NASCAR is in town and today Doug The Car Czar was previewing the Hauler Parade that took place in Sacramento today. I can tell you that I attended this event last year and again this year and it gets bigger and bigger each year. The Toyota SaveMart 350 is Sunday in Sonoma in the Napa Valley. I will have more on this event Sunday. (NASCAR pictures from parade will be posted on Facebook page)
Learning is Fun:
Today Melissa was at Lakeshore Learning Store in Roseville. She was learning that the games they have make learning fun and she tested the knowledge of Tina, Cody and Marianne on the 5th Grade Game.
Make a Wish:
One Special Girl with a heart condition made a wish and Make a Wish is making it come true. Faith from Sacramento wanted a farm for her chickens so between Make A Wish, Sac Sheriff and some inmates that little girls wish will come true. The reveal goes down Saturday life on Good Day but today Kristin was watching the volunteers build the farm complete with a barn.
Thrifty Thursday:
It's Thursday so Gina from Thrift Town was back and this week she made a baseball wreath out of old baseballs. How does she do it? Week after week she comes up with something new.
Crossfit:
A local couple out of Folsom was showing off their skills in the art of Crossfit and Ken was learning from them. This couple is not your average 20-40 year old couple. Nope this couple is in their 80's. This also was the topic of today's Manly Minute how over the age of 70 can stay in GREAT shape like this couple. Ken even did pull ups.

Comedian / Sacramento Native Kay Lewis was in studio to talk about his involvement on Marlon Wayans new show "Funniest Wins" When Marlon was on Good Day yesterday he spoke very highly of Kay.
Barbie:
In today's Daily Joe with Marianne she talked about the new Entrepreneur Barbie being released complete with an IPhone. So this also was today's topic in the 9am Hour. What advice would you give a young Entrepreneur? I said to listen to those who come before you and then do it better. What I meant by that is you always want to listen to those who have been through what you are about to but to leave your legacy take that information given to you and make it better so those who come after you will have something to work for. It's okay to fail once but learn from those mistakes and do things better as you learn.

Today Stanford Inn of Mendocino was in studio making Sea Palm Strudel.

In this Speed Racer hour Marianne talked about the new Entrepreneur Barbie, and New Kittens at the Philadelphia Zoo. Jason had a Truck Tracker Update and Doug was hanging out with the NASCAR Haulers in West Sacramento before they head to the Hauler Parade in Sacramento.
7am:
In this hour comedian and Sacramento Native Key Lewis joined Cody and Ken in studio to talk about the show Funniest Wins. Doug was continuing from the NASCAR Haulers event and he talked about the NASCAR store in Roseville, Hunts Race World. Melissa was at Lakeshore Learning Store in Roseville checking out new fun games kids can play and still continue to learn.
8am:
In this hour Kristin checks out the preparation of Make A Wish Farm for one young girl that will be revealed on Saturday. Melissa was in Roseville asking if Cody and Marianne are smarter than a 5th Grader. Teens Tunes was played. Yogurtland dropped off yogurt as the official sponsor of the Critics Choice TV Award. Doug gave tickets away to Race Sonoma and a mom and her twins stopped by to talk about their appearance on Steve Harvey. With the new Barbie being released today's #9amtopic was What advice would you give to a young entrepreneur.
9am:
Melissa was in Roseville shopping at Jane's a new antique store. Kristin was helping a Make A Wish come true for a special little girl. Ken was getting his workout in with an 80 year old couple in Folsom. Gina from Thrift Town was teaching how to make a Baseball Wreath. Ken has his Manly Minute talking about ways to workout over the age of 70. Stanford Inn by the sea was in the Good Day Kitchen making Sea Palm Strudel. Cody and Julissa took us through today's #9amtopic and the hour. Tina's Final Question was Where did you get your first paycheck.

Doctor Who Dress:
If you love Doctor Who you will love today's Show and Tell from Cody. Producer Tessa ordered a Doctor Who Dress off the BBC Website and debuted it today. It even comes with a Bow Tie.
NASCAR:
NASCAR is in town and today Doug The Car Czar was previewing the Hauler Parade that took place in Sacramento today. I can tell you that I attended this event last year and again this year and it gets bigger and bigger each year. The Toyota SaveMart 350 is Sunday in Sonoma in the Napa Valley. I will have more on this event Sunday. (NASCAR pictures from parade will be posted on Facebook page)
Learning is Fun:
Today Melissa was at Lakeshore Learning Store in Roseville. She was learning that the games they have make learning fun and she tested the knowledge of Tina, Cody and Marianne on the 5th Grade Game.
Make a Wish:
One Special Girl with a heart condition made a wish and Make a Wish is making it come true. Faith from Sacramento wanted a farm for her chickens so between Make A Wish, Sac Sheriff and some inmates that little girls wish will come true. The reveal goes down Saturday life on Good Day but today Kristin was watching the volunteers build the farm complete with a barn.
Thrifty Thursday:
It's Thursday so Gina from Thrift Town was back and this week she made a baseball wreath out of old baseballs. How does she do it? Week after week she comes up with something new.
Crossfit:
A local couple out of Folsom was showing off their skills in the art of Crossfit and Ken was learning from them. This couple is not your average 20-40 year old couple. Nope this couple is in their 80's. This also was the topic of today's Manly Minute how over the age of 70 can stay in GREAT shape like this couple. Ken even did pull ups.

Comedian / Sacramento Native Kay Lewis was in studio to talk about his involvement on Marlon Wayans new show "Funniest Wins" When Marlon was on Good Day yesterday he spoke very highly of Kay.
Barbie:
In today's Daily Joe with Marianne she talked about the new Entrepreneur Barbie being released complete with an IPhone. So this also was today's topic in the 9am Hour. What advice would you give a young Entrepreneur? I said to listen to those who come before you and then do it better. What I meant by that is you always want to listen to those who have been through what you are about to but to leave your legacy take that information given to you and make it better so those who come after you will have something to work for. It's okay to fail once but learn from those mistakes and do things better as you learn.
Stanford Inn:
Today Stanford Inn of Mendocino was in studio making Sea Palm Strudel.
Yogurt
The Critics Choice Awards are tonight for all things TV on CW31. The Official Sponsor Yogurtland dropped off yogurt for the entire staff.
Vintage:
Melissa was checking out a new old store. Jane's Vintage is NOW OPEN in Roseville. This vintage antique store has everything you can imagine from furniture to cookware to Depression Glass and more.
