Opening Statement:
For weeks Laura Skirde has been missing from the CBS Morning News and Good Day Sacramento working the night shift on CBS13 and CW31 where weather comes first. Last night at 4 and 5 she wasn't on so I asked her via twitter if her return to mornings was near. I can tell you now she will not be back this week because she is attending the AMS Broadcast Conference. What is that? The 42nd Conference on Broadcast Meteorology is organized the AMS Board on Broadcast Meteorology and sponsored by the American Meteorological Society. So now we know she won't be back this week we can hopefully plan on her return to Good Day and CBS13 mornings on June 23rd (Fingers crossed)

A Sac City psychology professor, Gayle Pittman, is using her new children’s book as a tool for teaching respect, acceptance, and understanding of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people. This Day in June welcomes kids to experience a pride celebration and share in a day when we are all united. The book includes a “Reading Guide” chock-full of facts about LGBT history and culture, as well as a “Note to Parents and Caregivers” with information of how to talk to children about sexual orientation and gender identity in age-appropriate ways.

In this very busy news hour with an overturned big rig and a large grass fire They found time for a double Show and Tell. First Tina made an Apple Pie over the weekend and Amy and Ken put their order in. Then Marianne showed a photo of Julissa's brother from World Cup. Marianne's Daily list a good reminder to what not put into the dishwasher. The 5am Club Members were introduced. The Question of the day was The Best Place to get engaged and today's Show us yours was favorite veggies.
6am:
As busy as the first hour was this hour was slow. Marianne's Daily Joe talked about a new Churro Ice Cream Sandwich, and the Space Station getting coffee. Joni Hilton aka YouTube Mom showed how to pack for a trip and said to bring a clip to keep curtain closed in hotel room.
7am:
Another light hour saw Joni back talking about how to recycle your cosmetics. I don't use them but she did give some really good tips and Ken even found them helpful. Marianne talked with Jeff Bangerter from Bangerter Financial Services was in studio to tell us how the money habits of your friends could be hurting your bank account.
8am:
In this hour it picked up and it lived up to it's name of the GREAT 8. Tina played a new version of Teens Tunes playing clips of 3 songs at once. Author Gayle Pittman was in studio talking about her new children's book to educate them in the Gay and Lesbian community. Kristin was in Modesto checking out all things bread from the Flowers Bakery Co. Amy was juicing at Sun and Soil Juice company and Cambi was getting energy saving tips from an expert. Did you know it only cost about $1 to charge your phone.
9am:
In this hour Marianne and Julissa took us through the hour and today's #9amtopic. Ken was in Elk Grove at a Science camp for kids where they learn First Aid / CPR and more. Cambi was checking out new energy saving gadgets and Kristin was working the bread line at Modesto Bakery Co. Ken also had his Manly Minute talking about signs when you are all grown up. Tina's final question was I've always loved it, I still love it, What is it?

Today's Daily List with Marianne served as a good reminder what not to put in the dishwasher. Good Kitchen Knives, Nonstick pots and pans and crystal and stemware. I know I am guilty and doing 2 or the things on the list. The only thing not is the nonstick pots and pans.
Coffee In Space:
Today on Marianne's Daily Joe she talked about Churro Ice Cream Sandwiches being made but also the Space Station is going to be getting coffee in space. Now if they could just get the Churro Ice Cream Sandwiches along with the coffee the astronauts would be set.
YouTube Mom:
Joni Hilton aka Youtube Mom was featured for 2 segments. The first she gave tips how to pack your bags for a trip and the second was how to recycle and extend the use of your cosmetics. Even Ken found this segment helpful because well he wears makeup for a living.

Bread Maker - Dream Maker:
You may remember I first talked about Modesto Bakery Co. last week. This Modesto based bread maker just expanded its business with new contracts for making breads for Wonder and Sara Lee as well as others. Camp:
Ken was in Elk Grove at a Kids Science Camp where teens age 15-19 learn how to care for people in disasters. They learn CPR/First Aid and how to triage patients. Hey friends! Major traffic alert for this weekend! NASCAR is coming to Sonoma on Sunday (Yay! I get to see Jeff! ) so I just thought I'd give everyone who is thinking about the weekend already (I'm sure some of you are!) a heads up You do NOT want to get stuck in this traffic. Hwy 37 will be a hot mess and you will be miserable. The race starts at 12 but the traffic goes for miles HOURS before and HOURS after the race. Plan accordingly Go Jeff!

First Tina made an Apple Pie over the weekend and Amy and Ken put their order in. Then Marianne showed a photo of Julissa's brother from World Cup. Marianne's Daily list a good reminder to what not put into the dishwasher. The 5am Club Members were introduced. The Question of the day was The Best Place to get engaged and today's Show us yours was favorite veggies.
6am:
As busy as the first hour was this hour was slow. Marianne's Daily Joe talked about a new Churro Ice Cream Sandwich, and the Space Station getting coffee. Joni Hilton aka YouTube Mom showed how to pack for a trip and said to bring a clip to keep curtain closed in hotel room.
7am:
Another light hour saw Joni back talking about how to recycle your cosmetics. I don't use them but she did give some really good tips and Ken even found them helpful. Marianne talked with Jeff Bangerter from Bangerter Financial Services was in studio to tell us how the money habits of your friends could be hurting your bank account.
8am:
In this hour it picked up and it lived up to it's name of the GREAT 8. Tina played a new version of Teens Tunes playing clips of 3 songs at once. Author Gayle Pittman was in studio talking about her new children's book to educate them in the Gay and Lesbian community. Kristin was in Modesto checking out all things bread from the Flowers Bakery Co. Amy was juicing at Sun and Soil Juice company and Cambi was getting energy saving tips from an expert. Did you know it only cost about $1 to charge your phone.
9am:
In this hour Marianne and Julissa took us through the hour and today's #9amtopic. Ken was in Elk Grove at a Science camp for kids where they learn First Aid / CPR and more. Cambi was checking out new energy saving gadgets and Kristin was working the bread line at Modesto Bakery Co. Ken also had his Manly Minute talking about signs when you are all grown up. Tina's final question was I've always loved it, I still love it, What is it?

Don't Put That There:
Today's Daily List with Marianne served as a good reminder what not to put in the dishwasher. Good Kitchen Knives, Nonstick pots and pans and crystal and stemware. I know I am guilty and doing 2 or the things on the list. The only thing not is the nonstick pots and pans.
Coffee In Space:
Today on Marianne's Daily Joe she talked about Churro Ice Cream Sandwiches being made but also the Space Station is going to be getting coffee in space. Now if they could just get the Churro Ice Cream Sandwiches along with the coffee the astronauts would be set.
YouTube Mom:
Joni Hilton aka Youtube Mom was featured for 2 segments. The first she gave tips how to pack your bags for a trip and the second was how to recycle and extend the use of your cosmetics. Even Ken found this segment helpful because well he wears makeup for a living.
I'll Pay For That:
Financial Expert Jeff Bangerter was back in studio giving tips how your friends might be hurting your wallet and what to do about it.
Children's Book:
Sac State Instructor / Author Gayle Pittman was in studio today talking about her new Children's book. This is not your normal Curious George but it is curious and educational talking about
Bread Maker - Dream Maker:
You may remember I first talked about Modesto Bakery Co. last week. This Modesto based bread maker just expanded its business with new contracts for making breads for Wonder and Sara Lee as well as others. With the expansion and new contracts they are looking for new employees. So if you want to be a bread maker they can be a dram maker and get you back to work. Camp:
Ken was in Elk Grove at a Kids Science Camp where teens age 15-19 learn how to care for people in disasters. They learn CPR/First Aid and how to triage patients. Hey friends! Major traffic alert for this weekend! NASCAR is coming to Sonoma on Sunday (Yay! I get to see Jeff! ) so I just thought I'd give everyone who is thinking about the weekend already (I'm sure some of you are!) a heads up You do NOT want to get stuck in this traffic. Hwy 37 will be a hot mess and you will be miserable. The race starts at 12 but the traffic goes for miles HOURS before and HOURS after the race. Plan accordingly Go Jeff!

Tomorrow:
As we head into the middle part of the week and look ahead to Wednesday we notice it's a Dishin With Tina day and Cody's normal work day. However Cody has been on tour and has not been on Good Day Sacramento for a week 10 days. I don't have confirmation but signs do point to his return tomorrow We will need to tune in at 430am to find out if the Cody tour is over or if it continues a few more days.
