Riding the Storm Out.... Today in the News 3/27/2014:
Opening Statement:
A couple of stories I am following. Last night funnel clouds were spotted in Roseville, Rocklin, Auburn area. At least one cloud touched down doing damage to roofs, fences, and some parts of homes.
The other story is an update on former football player, Hall of Fame QB, Jim Kelly who a few weeks ago I said that he had cancer of the jaw, now that cancer is back and surgery is no longer possible because it is spreading so quickly. This reminds me of my step dad and the result is not very good and now we must pray that Jim is pain free and comfortable. So I ask you this has been a tough week for Buffalo Bills fans so if you could keep the Bills family in your heart as well.

My58 had post storm coverage of the EF-0 tornado to hit the Roseville area in addition to that an Elk Grove playground destroyed by fire reopened and Wine and Spirits taste testing.
Fox40:
Today on Fox they too had post Storm coverage plus Luana was at All Plastic Fabrications making a Fox40 sign. Paul had Idol Chatter saying CJ and Jessica were they worst and Caleb and Alex were they best but I disagree.... More on that later.
Good Day Sacramento:
430/5am:
No normal activity was done in this hour after the Tornadoes that touchdown in Roseville last night. Good Day had gavel to gavel coverage from 430-6am showing your pictures and videos as part of Show Us your Storm Beat street team photos.
6am:
Normalcy returned. Doug the Car Czar talked about a rental car idea taking place in China where you pay by the hour plus a couple of events he has coming up this weekend. Julissa was in Auburn checking out a local Auburn man making a Lifelike Statue of Ronald Reagan. Melissa met a local man who builds drums, Don Schultz makes these amazing drums out of his garage.
7am:
In this hour Cody was riding around Roseville looking for storm damage in Mobile 13. Mark and Ken talked with Gabe from Travelzoo about Tropical Deals. Julissa was looking at more pieces from Artist Doug VanHowd. Mark talked to Emma Watson about Noah and Doug was back with tips on what to do on wet roads and warm temps.
8am:
In this hour Riding with Cody continued as he looked for storm damage. Mark talked to Anthony Hopkins about Noah. Doug was checking out a charging station for your Electric Car through SMUD. Melissa was playing golf with one local teen who is already ranked and heading to UC Davis. Courtney was checking out a Ball Chi Fitness workout. Teens Tunes 90's version was played and Today's #9amtopic was What was one bad decision you made.
9am:
In this hour Ridin with Cody continued. Mark had entertainment news including a look at Cesar Chavez in theaters tomorrow. Laura and Julissa guided us through the #9amtopic. Tina was with Debi Kennedy Ditchin the Drive Thru and making Chow Mein, Potstickers and Carrot Cake. Melissa played Mini Golf from Scandia and beat the Golf Pro by one stroke. No Gina from ThriftTown today. Ken had his Manly Minute and revealed secrets men have. Mark did bring the News of the Weird where he talked of 1 young boy who fell in the Septic tank and was not smelling so fresh.
Final Thoughts:
Before getting into the shows today I want to address some comments I have been reading about the shows today. Yes, it appears that most viewers not just on Good Day but Fox40 and My58 as well viewers are sick of the Storm coverage and the tornado that touched down last night. Is it overkill? Yes, but you can't escape it from any station so just embrace it. I will admit I too was disappointed Good Day broke normal 430/5am format to cover the storm that hit last night that every station covered from 5-730pm last night plus their normal Newscasts at 10 and 11pm but I would rather see coverage of a storm than people being killed. That's how I feel so with that said here is what took place on Today's shows.
My58 talked about Wines and Spirits in addition to a playground opening back up in Elk Grove however the Tornado touchdown yesterday ruled the day.
Fox40 was at All Plastic Fabrication in Gold River learning how they make their items and talked with Will Smith as he made them their plastic sign.They also talked about Sam's Club BBQ tour as they roll into town Saturday at Sam's Club on El Camino Ave. in Sacramento and they meaning Paul by himself talked Idol Chatter. He said Caleb and Alex are the best. I don't know what he is listening to but Alex SUCKED. He killed the No Doubt song. It was not good. Will he go home No I believe Paul when he thinks CJ will. I didn't hate Jessica like he said. I think she has a couple of weeks left before she exits. Caleb was the best of all last night I thought for the guys but the girl with braces might have had her Jennifer Hudson moment and was by far my favorite last night.
Good Day went completely away from normal format in the 430/5am hour with storm coverage. I get it was local but it was a bit much not only for that first 90 minutes to cut out Show and Tell, Question of the Day and 5am Club I didn't understand that. Then to send Cody out in a car when he falls ill easily didn't make sense but the rest of the show was solid.
I loved the Julissa segment with Doug the artist making the statue and the other items he is working on or did. Such beautiful work.
Melissa playing golf was fun to watch too but the drum making segment felt rushed.
Doug the Car Czar had great tips in his 3 segments.
Mark is always solid in his entertainment segments and movie interviews including Emma Watson.
I would have liked to have seen at least 1 more segment from Courtney and the Ball Chi Fitness.
Over all the shows did well. Yes I feel Good Day still did the best but like most viewers the tornado
touchdown was overkill on all 3 stations but like I said I'd rather see that than people being killed.
Tomorrow is Friday so the weekend is almost here and for that this is what we can look forward to....

My58 had post storm coverage of the EF-0 tornado to hit the Roseville area in addition to that an Elk Grove playground destroyed by fire reopened and Wine and Spirits taste testing.
Fox40:
Today on Fox they too had post Storm coverage plus Luana was at All Plastic Fabrications making a Fox40 sign. Paul had Idol Chatter saying CJ and Jessica were they worst and Caleb and Alex were they best but I disagree.... More on that later.
Good Day Sacramento:
430/5am:
No normal activity was done in this hour after the Tornadoes that touchdown in Roseville last night. Good Day had gavel to gavel coverage from 430-6am showing your pictures and videos as part of Show Us your Storm Beat street team photos.
6am:
Normalcy returned. Doug the Car Czar talked about a rental car idea taking place in China where you pay by the hour plus a couple of events he has coming up this weekend. Julissa was in Auburn checking out a local Auburn man making a Lifelike Statue of Ronald Reagan. Melissa met a local man who builds drums, Don Schultz makes these amazing drums out of his garage.
7am:
In this hour Cody was riding around Roseville looking for storm damage in Mobile 13. Mark and Ken talked with Gabe from Travelzoo about Tropical Deals. Julissa was looking at more pieces from Artist Doug VanHowd. Mark talked to Emma Watson about Noah and Doug was back with tips on what to do on wet roads and warm temps.
8am:
In this hour Riding with Cody continued as he looked for storm damage. Mark talked to Anthony Hopkins about Noah. Doug was checking out a charging station for your Electric Car through SMUD. Melissa was playing golf with one local teen who is already ranked and heading to UC Davis. Courtney was checking out a Ball Chi Fitness workout. Teens Tunes 90's version was played and Today's #9amtopic was What was one bad decision you made.
9am:
In this hour Ridin with Cody continued. Mark had entertainment news including a look at Cesar Chavez in theaters tomorrow. Laura and Julissa guided us through the #9amtopic. Tina was with Debi Kennedy Ditchin the Drive Thru and making Chow Mein, Potstickers and Carrot Cake. Melissa played Mini Golf from Scandia and beat the Golf Pro by one stroke. No Gina from ThriftTown today. Ken had his Manly Minute and revealed secrets men have. Mark did bring the News of the Weird where he talked of 1 young boy who fell in the Septic tank and was not smelling so fresh.
Final Thoughts:
Before getting into the shows today I want to address some comments I have been reading about the shows today. Yes, it appears that most viewers not just on Good Day but Fox40 and My58 as well viewers are sick of the Storm coverage and the tornado that touched down last night. Is it overkill? Yes, but you can't escape it from any station so just embrace it. I will admit I too was disappointed Good Day broke normal 430/5am format to cover the storm that hit last night that every station covered from 5-730pm last night plus their normal Newscasts at 10 and 11pm but I would rather see coverage of a storm than people being killed. That's how I feel so with that said here is what took place on Today's shows.
My58 talked about Wines and Spirits in addition to a playground opening back up in Elk Grove however the Tornado touchdown yesterday ruled the day.
Fox40 was at All Plastic Fabrication in Gold River learning how they make their items and talked with Will Smith as he made them their plastic sign.They also talked about Sam's Club BBQ tour as they roll into town Saturday at Sam's Club on El Camino Ave. in Sacramento and they meaning Paul by himself talked Idol Chatter. He said Caleb and Alex are the best. I don't know what he is listening to but Alex SUCKED. He killed the No Doubt song. It was not good. Will he go home No I believe Paul when he thinks CJ will. I didn't hate Jessica like he said. I think she has a couple of weeks left before she exits. Caleb was the best of all last night I thought for the guys but the girl with braces might have had her Jennifer Hudson moment and was by far my favorite last night.
Good Day went completely away from normal format in the 430/5am hour with storm coverage. I get it was local but it was a bit much not only for that first 90 minutes to cut out Show and Tell, Question of the Day and 5am Club I didn't understand that. Then to send Cody out in a car when he falls ill easily didn't make sense but the rest of the show was solid.
I loved the Julissa segment with Doug the artist making the statue and the other items he is working on or did. Such beautiful work.
Melissa playing golf was fun to watch too but the drum making segment felt rushed.
Doug the Car Czar had great tips in his 3 segments.
Mark is always solid in his entertainment segments and movie interviews including Emma Watson.
I would have liked to have seen at least 1 more segment from Courtney and the Ball Chi Fitness.
Over all the shows did well. Yes I feel Good Day still did the best but like most viewers the tornado
touchdown was overkill on all 3 stations but like I said I'd rather see that than people being killed.
Tomorrow is Friday so the weekend is almost here and for that this is what we can look forward to....
