Marianne's Daily List:  3 Ways March Madness Makes us Crazy.
Will you be tuning in for the March madness games this year? Sporting your favorite team’s apparel? You’re not alone! Retailmenot.com released new survey data showing just how dedicated fans are to their NCAA teams! On the Daily List this morning, see how March madness makes us go temporarily insane!
We call in sick to watch the games
Feel a cold coming on? Over 1 in 10 (11%) would call in sick to work to watch march madness games.
20% of men would go to a bar at lunch during the workday to watch the games.
If we must work, we stream
3 in 10 people will watch at work – streaming the games right from their computers!
And more than a third of smartphone and tablet owners who plan to watch say they’ll push their data limits to watch the games at work on the sly.
We spend big
Half of fans willing to spend money on their teams are willing to spend at least $100. The willingness to spend doubles when favorite teams make it to the NCAA sweet 16 ($40 vs. $85) what are they spending it on? Mostly (65%), kitchen or bar items (27%), posters or flags (26%), home decor (25%), and auto accessories (25%).

Quick Thought:
Today's shows centered around brides, A large consignment sale, and Child Abuse Prevention. I will talk about those three topics in the final thought.

My58 did a pretty good job today. It was one of those days when multiple stations covered multiple events so it was just a matter of who you liked best. For me I liked Melissa Cabral the best but that is my personal preference.

Fox40 had Florez Bar and Grill as they get ready for a special event tomorrow with St. Baldricks and talked about St. Patrick's Day parade and beauty tips following your night of partying.

Good Day Sacramento had a lot of different things going on. In addition to For a Life of a Child, Melissa was shopping, Lori was learning how not to bully and a bully camp. Gabe from Travelzoo was in Dublin

All this and More in Today in the News....

Recap:

My58:
Today My58 talked about Disc golf coming to Orangevale this weekend in addition to Bride for Cause and Just Between Friends. All GREAT events taking place this weekend

Fox40:
Today on Fox40 Bethany got beauty tips for the day after St. Patricks Day party. Eric checked out the parade prep for tomorrow. Florez Bar and Grill was in the studio cooking Corn Beef and Cabbage and 1 local Modesto man helps a vet with a new Wheelchair.

Good Day Sacramento:
430/5am:
Today is ladies day on Good Day. Cody - ILL, Ken - off. Mark - Recovering from surgery/vacation and it has that feel of a lot of topics geared towards woman. Show and Tell today was showing items from For a Life of a Child raffle that will be taken place later today. Marianne's daily list talked about March Madness that gets started next Thursday. Courtney had our 5am Club Members of the day. Tina's question of the day was What was one of your highlights from yesterday and finally today's Show us your topic is Wedding Day Story mishaps and dresses.

6am:
In this hour Julissa talked with Safe Kids California about keeping your kids safe from household poisons. Gabe from Travelzoo was in Dublin and talked about GREAT ideas to get away to Ireland. Todd and Nina from Now 100.5 are testing their Blood Alcohol Level and remind us to NOT DRINK AND DRIVE. Nina is not drinking but Todd is and Good Day will check on his progress throughout the show.

7am:
For the Life of a Child telethon kicked off this hour with several special guest stopping by including Leatherby's, Union Bank and more. Jelly Belly's was in studio with their new beer cocktail Jelly Beans. Todd from Now 100.5 continued drinking showing that just an hour or so into it he was starting to get buzzed and buzzed driving is still drunk driving. Melissa made the hour complete when she checked out Just Between Friends at the Convention Center and road on a Big Wheel with not shoes.

8am:
In this hour more special guest stopped by For the Life of a Child Raffle/Telethon. Todd is now legally drunk as he continues to drink on air and Nina took control off the radio at Now 100.5 but then again Nina is always in Control. Stockton Ports Wants You... Become an on field Emcee for the Stockton Ports with a casting call tomorrow at 130pm. Melissa was checking out some beautiful wedding dresses at Brides for a Cause. The 9amtopic is introduced. Today's topic is What gets better with age.

9am:
As For the Life of a Child Telethon continues for Child Abuse Prevention Julissa and Laura guided us through the hour and today's 9amtopic. In addition to ALL the special guest coming through for the telethon the Delta Queen was in studio preparing Corn Beef and cabbage as they get set to host the after party for tomorrows St. Patrick's Day Parade. Lori was checking out a camp to prevent child bullying. Melissa was at Bride for a Cause event. They have at least 800 dresses and average around $400 for the dress. These are beautiful. In the final question of the day what is your favorite part of St. Patrick's Day. Then the Good Day portion of the telethon ended and the total was $100,000 with 2 hours left to get your name in the raffle before they are drawn later today.

Final Thoughts:
Today was a very special day. With 3-4 major events taking place this weekend it made for a pretty good day in TV News. Starting off the St. Patrick's Day Parade is tomorrow so Good Day had Delta King in studio and Fox previewed the parade in addition to that what Todd and Nina did on air today is a GREAT reminder to NOT DRINK AND DRIVE!!! Todd had about a bottle of wine and his attitude changed, words slurred and he was showing signs of being under the influence. At last check he blew 1.2 which is over the legal limit. So I felt that was a GREAT reminder they did. But that is not all. Today was also a preview of Just Between Friends Consignment Sale where Melissa got to ride a Big Wheel making for a funny moment. But it was also Melissa who showed off some beautiful dresses for Bride for a Cause. Each dress goes from $150-$500 and proceeds benefit local charity. But the BIG Event was the Raffle/Telethon For the Life of a Child. At last report the donation was up to $100,000 and it didn't end until 12pm. This is a GREAT event and I want to congratulate all the winners prior to the announcement that will come at 3pm today. So all the winners will be posted here tomorrow.

With that we have danced into the weekend as we get ready for Cody and Amy to take over the controls for the weekend. Let's hope Cody is well enough to return but I am preparing for Cody to possibly miss this weekend.
