If It Keeps On Raining.... Today in the News Weekend Edition Part 1 2/8/2014:
Opening Statement:
This week we've talked about Friends and Family and that is what the Weekend Edition of Good Day Sacramento is for me. The cast and crew are friends and family. The weekend show has always kind of felt like my baby because of all of the cast/crew to come through but it was when Cody took it over did it really feel like a friend or family member took over. Cody is like a brother to me and what he adds, brings, and does for the show a lot of it goes unnoticed and it is my hope over the next few weekends I get to do features on Cody. So hopefully starting Sunday I will get this started and will continue it each weekend day for the remainder of the month.
As Led Zeppelin said If it keeps on raining levees going to break. Well I don't think that will happen today but I do think it's important to take percussion in other areas. 1. Don't drive stupid. We all have to be somewhere so let's all get there safe. 2. Don't leave your pets out in the rain. They like to stay dry too. 3. Don't leave home til 11 and just watch Good Day Sacramento all weekend long for all the latest on the storm and fun events happening in the area this weekend.

Quick Thoughts:
Throw the Weekend format out the window today. Weather is dominating today on Good Day Sacramento however it wouldn't be Good Day Sacramento without the fun so the 8am hour kicked off the fun as it had a steady increase throughout the show. So what really took place today....

7am:
The 7am hour started with weather and pretty much continued throughout. Cody was never in the Good Day Studio because he was in the CBS13 Weather Center tracking the storm. Amy was handling viewer emails of weather pics, video and jokes for Show us your... Melissa checked in with a video as they travel up to the snow but never appeared on camera. Charity was on top of a breaking story of a tree that fell in Stockton and Tina and Cambi headed out on the roads tracking accidents around the area. Perhaps the biggest surprise of the morning was Marianne covering weather but that quickly became clear as the hour went on that this hour would not be the normal weekend format. However one form of normalcy was Lori at PetSmart talking about their Pet Food Drive taking place all day long.
8am:
In this hour the weather continued its domination and Cody still hasn't sat down. Amy was continuing checking the photos, videos, and jokes for today as well as talking to Bonnie from Triad Plus about Roman Shades. Lori finished up at PetSmart. Melissa found snow at Sugar Bowl and talked to some of the skiers hitting the slopes. Charity continued checking out the tree down in Stockton while Cambi and Tina tracked accidents and local street flooding.
9am:
This hour of the show had some normal format to it. Yes Cody, Amy, Cambi, Melissa, Tina, and Marianne had full coverage of the current storm moving through the area including the snow in the mountains but Amy talked to talked to Cindy from Hat a Girl Hats about their products. Cody got to visit the Good Day Studio to talk to Joe Stewart from Loyal Roots Apparel about their local sports team hats and shirts with a twist. Lori was getting her workout in from Dailey Method who is opening a new gym location today in Downtown Sacramento. Charity was checking out the Lodi Wine & Chocolate event going on all weekend long.
10am:
This hour Cambi, Tina continued tracking the weather and traffic together in Mobile 13 and Weather Lab 13. Lori went to check out another gym Grand Opening of a Gym, this gym was in West Sacramento and opened by former Good Day Reporter Angel Cardenas. Charity was checking out more win from the Lodi Wine and Chocolate event. Melissa was still in the snow at Sugar Bowl. Chains are still required but conditions continue to change. My gosh!!! How GREAT was it to see Shawn L Brown aka the Hair Doctor. She looks terrific and was in studio to talk about her event. Cody and Amy talked to Kurt Anderson about www.Redbasket.org which is simular to Kickstarter but a little different and new to California.
Final Thoughts:
Yes, it is raining in California today and yes it is the weekend. The first hour or so of the show today was different but in true Good Day Fashion segments got going in the second hour of the show. The show really started getting back on track in the 9am hour with more and more segments and finishing strong in the final hour. Though they could have stopped at Shawn Brown they still got one more segment in and they both delivered. But it was Shawn that stole the final hour if seeing her in studio after rough Chemotherapy sessions that had her losing her hair. Shawn is a sweetheart and I love seeing her on the show as much as possible. She is doing better but she has her days as accepted.
It is important to let those know who might be going through illness that we love them and we are there for them.
Saturday is now done so on to Sunday.....
