Zen Master.... Today in the News 7/30/2014:



Opening Statement:
As we get toward the end of July I look back at how my summer has gone so far and realize i still have to learn about and plan to learn about.



Yes I made my annual Good Day Weekend trip thanks to Cody and the weekend crew but I still have other things i want to accomplish so that I can write about it.  



I still want to learn what each person does the the control booth during Good Day. I am completely fascinated with this and though this may not happen right away I want it to happen in my life.  



I want to go behind the scenes of Make-A-Wish to see what it takes from a child's wish, how they are decided, what it takes from once the wish is granted and finally what all goes into the wish to make the child smile. Ever since Chloe's Tiger Surprise, Jon Jon with the train through the Summit, Faith with the Mini Farm and countless other stories including those recently featured on ESPN's My Wish I really want to learn about this wonderful organization. 



I want to learn about radio from Mark, Nina or Cody on the Radio (Briana) all from Now 100.5.   



Finally not that I want to learn it I just want to do it for myself but I want to meet and shake the hands of Cambi, Nina, and the GREAT Viewers of Good Day Sacramento who make me feel like I am important.  



I realize these are far to reach goals like I have with other things I have going on or want to do but these are just some stories I want to share with you with some personal goals as well because when I do visit Good Day and Mark at the Movies (Which I still want to sit on a taping as often as I can) I go to learn about something that makes me happy.

Final Recap:
Favorite Story of the Day: Now and Zen:
Today's favorite story of the day on Good Day Sacramento is a triple play or 3 segments rolled into one.



Today Ken took us to a local Sacramento man's home where he had an idea from his time in the service stationed in Japan to someday build a Japanese Zen Garden.



His dream would carry over the course of 35 years before it was finally complete. Today Ken and Good Day Sacramento got a tour of this beautiful garden.



Ruben now retired from being a barber can relax and work in his garden at his own pace.



However because Ruben is such a "Sensational Senior" in Ken's Manly Minute today  he gave 5 tips to help seniors garden better and more efficiently such as use tools to reach above your head or pick things up. If you are squatting to get done all you can while in that position so you're not going up and down.



It is this beautiful garden from this Sensational Senior that helped with today's Manly Minute topic that makes this story my favorite story of the day  



Dumpster Diver:
12 year old Grace goes diving in dumpsters looking for items she can turn into cash by going to Blue Vingette and allowing them to turn what she finds into beautiful art. So yes One mans trash is another mans treasure.



One thing Grace does is wear a camera so you can see the video of what she finds and see's while in the dumpster.



In Training:
Last week we saw Jason go down in a Food Eating Challenge. Today he went into training with Mark from Jim Denny's Restaurant where they attempted to eat the Hubcaps. ie. Huge Pancake with Bacon, Sausage, and 2 eggs. Neither of them finished this challenge.



Courtney is Back:
Courtney is back from her 10 day Birthday Bash after turning 40 and she brought her cool shoes and Wonder Woman moves with her.
   


Dancin:
We had more than one dancing segment on the show today. First Laura did the Rocky Top with Peyton Manning and Wes Welker. Then Amy was at Temple Coffee where she met a B-Boy Dancer Vince Horiuchi who teaches classes and then after the show Courtney danced as well as earlier when she did her Wonder Woman Dance. 



I like Games:
Julissa was back in the Hacker Lab as one of the Hackers created a video game arcade from scratch. Now you can play arcade basketball.

Costume Party:
In June we met Folsom High School Teen Kaylee who came into the studio to show off her Frozen Elsa Costume. We also learned then she was making a Malicifent costume amongst others. Today on Good Day we got to see all the other Costumes Kaylee has made and WOW!!! So impressive. She has a bright future ahead



Fire Training Day:
Kristin was with Sac City Fire Crews as they train their new recruits in Wildland Training.



Project Dream:
We first met Roseville teen Spencer last week as Project Dream madeover his room into a soccer theme. Today his room was finally revealed. What a GREAT job.



Cheesecake Balls:
Today is National Cheesecake so Cheesecake Factory was in studio showing off their new products including do it yourself Cheesecake balls. However as the chef said make sure you chill your balls for the best results.



Dishin:
Tina was Dishin at Cafe Rolle who made the Top 36 of 100 on Yelp in the restaurant section. So if you love French Food you must check Cafe Rolle out.

Bed Time Story:
Today's Daily List with Marianne was talking about how to make your bed into the ultimate bed haven. She said to have a pen and notepad near you at all times and a comfortable mattress.



Weird:
In Mark's News of the Weird Mark told of a Fargo woman who was arrested 2 times for being drunk at the Airport. Then he showed a classic clip from Airplane Movie.



Daily Joe:
Kids Crying was a theme today in the 9am hour the topic was about a ban for kids crying but in the Daily Joe it was a kid crying over her brother getting older that was the cute video of the day.



Tomorrow:
Tomorrow Gina from Thrift Town should be on as it is Thrifty Thursday and she wasn't on last week. We are getting closer to the weekend as well as 4000 follows on the Good Day Instagram page. Be sure to follow them there for a lot of fun behind the scene pictures to go with the show.
