Whatcha Haulin .... Today in the News 6/19/2014 Opening Statement: Today's Opening Statement is based off a very Hot Topic in the news that I have been avoiding up until now. For everyone who reads this PLEASE DO NOT TAKE my answer the wrong way. I have been thinking about this for a very long time. I am part Native American. I am a football fan and I am a history buff so I understand all sides of this argument. As I said I am part Native American and the word being used is offensive to me however being used as a sports name the word does not offend me. When I lived in NY the High School my sisters attended was called Oriskany Redskins. If you are not familiar Oriskany NY is a very small town about an hour away from Syracuse. The town is very rich in history as well. The 1777 Battle of Oriskany, during the American Revolution, was fought west of the modern village.
