Opening Statement:
Today is the 41st year for Eppie's Great Race. Wow, What an accomplishment.
When I moved to California one of his restaurants was located directly across from Tower Records in Sacramento. If I remember correctly as kids we would go out on a Friday or Saturday night and Eppies would always be one of the spots we would stop at to have breakfast. Both are gone now. Eppies and Tower but his memory will live on through the GREAT Race. Today on Good Day it marks the first year without the man himself that the race falls on. We lost Eppie in September last year so today is a very special day.

The first “Eppie’s Great Race” post-Eppie Johnson’s passing in 2013, the 41st Annual Eppie’s Great Race will include both the traditional event, as well as special tributes, events, and fun memorabilia celebrating Eppie Johnson’s life and his community contributions such as, “Eppie’s Great Race” (EGR), and the “Eppie’s Kids Duathlon.”

Today planes will be taking to the skies of Davis! But these are not the huge passenger planes that you’re thinking of. They are huge model airplanes! The Woodland Davis AeroModelers is a non-profit group that is hosting their 20th Annual Wings of Victory Event where model planes from WW1 to present fly in the sky for a FREE airshow for spectators to come and enjoy! Felice Rood is the founder of Turtle and Tortoise Club that has 950 members. TURTLE-RAMA is held as an educational display where members are encouraged to set up their turtles and tortoises and inform the public as to the proper care of these unique creatures. There is also a kids craft corner that has all kids of fun projects for kids to enjoy with their families. Heather: Art To Help Grieve Loss
It’s a store full of all things bath and more. But the local owners now lead a special workshop to help others dealing with loss by creating a personalized ‘heart’ to help the grieving process and memorialize loved ones. The “Hearts” are made from re-purposed picture moldings and started because one of owners Denise lost her father to Parkinson’s disease in September 2013. We are live during one of the workshops!

Melissa was at the 41st Annual Eppies Great Race. This is a very special race because it was without the man himself who passed away last year but they did a nice tribute to him and because of that this makes this story my Favorite Story of the Day.
Vintage Sale:
Cambi was in Elk Grove checking out the American Cancer Society Discovery shop at all the vintage furniture on sale today until 5pm.
FFA Show:
Heather was in Turlock with local High School FFA Students who built Agriculture type trailers for class. These are very impressive.
Triad:
We all hate when we have an outside umbrella break or tear or just get ugly looking. Today on Good Day Bonnie made covers for those backyard patio umbrellas.
Planes:
This Davis Model Plane group has a unique style of play. These are not just your $24.99 planes. These planes can range up to $2000 and up. One man has $28,000 built up in planes.
Lord of the Ring:
Produce Man Michael Marks was in teaching all things onions as he made his world famous Onion Ring
Dickey's:
Heather was in Lathrop at the NEW Dickey's BBQ talking with and eating with the man himself. Mr. Dickey.
Heather Crepe:
Heather was in Stockton at MidTown Creperies where they made a crepe just for her. I love crepes. I will have to share my first crepe story with you all sometime.
Peaches:
Peach Fest is taking place today in Marysville and today they stopped by the studio to show us their peaches and their peach cobbler that looked amazing.
Turtles:
Cambi was at South Land Park Library checking out Turtle Rama and no Turtle from Entourage was not there.
Solar Cooking:
Cambi was at Williams Land Park learning all about Solar Cooking.
Wearable Art:
This was beautiful. The San Francisco based artist does her art on fashion and then sells it through her Kickstarter page.
Sno Cone Twist:
We all love Sno Cones and adding alcohol to hit would make it just the perfect adult beverage. Well today on Good Day Chris from Hook N Ladder was in studio doing just that. No they don't sell them at Hook N Ladder but he did show how you could make them.
Kate David:
Author and Mother created a wonderful children's book series and on Tuesday July 29th she is set to release her newest. book. She also brought in some of the cutest kids to the studio.

If you are unable to watch Good Day Sacramento then you may not know for the last 4 years I have made it an annual Summer Trip to the studios on the weekend. Today was that weekend. I will have much more on my visit tomorrow but I want to take this time to say Thank you to everyone at Good Day for opening their door and hearts to me.
I am always treated like family and I appreciate them very much.
I want to send a special thank you to Cody for all he does to allow me to be there one day a year.

Cambi: Turtle-rama
Felice Rood is the founder of Turtle and Tortoise Club that has 950 members. TURTLE-RAMA is held as an educational display where members are encouraged to set up their turtles and tortoises and inform the public as to the proper care of these unique creatures. There is also a kids craft corner that has all kids of fun projects for kids to enjoy with their families. Today Cambi was finding out why turtles and tortoises are important to our environment and getting to see a series of different ones!

Amy: Marysville Peach Fest
Marysville Peach Festival is underway today in historic downtown Marysville! Today we have one of the local growers in studio showing us what the festival has to offer. We will enjoy everything from Peach cobbler, to peach jam, to peach pie! Let’s celebrate everything peaches today! 800 peach cobblers are going to be made for the festival.

Heather: Art To Help Grieve Loss
It’s a store full of all things bath and more. But the local owners now lead a special workshop to help others dealing with loss by creating a personalized ‘heart’ to help the grieving process and memorialize loved ones. The “Hearts” are made from re-purposed picture moldings and started because one of owners Denise lost her father to Parkinson’s disease in September 2013. We are live during one of the workshops!

Favorite Story of the Day: Eppies
Melissa was at the 41st Annual Eppies Great Race. This is a very special race because it was without the man himself who passed away last year but they did a nice tribute to him and because of that this makes this story my Favorite Story of the Day.
Vintage Sale:
Cambi was in Elk Grove checking out the American Cancer Society Discovery shop at all the vintage furniture on sale today until 5pm.
FFA Show:
Heather was in Turlock with local High School FFA Students who built Agriculture type trailers for class. These are very impressive.
Triad:
We all hate when we have an outside umbrella break or tear or just get ugly looking. Today on Good Day Bonnie made covers for those backyard patio umbrellas.
Planes:
This Davis Model Plane group has a unique style of play. These are not just your $24.99 planes. These planes can range up to $2000 and up. One man has $28,000 built up in planes.
Lord of the Ring:
Produce Man Michael Marks was in teaching all things onions as he made his world famous Onion Ring
Dickey's:
Heather was in Lathrop at the NEW Dickey's BBQ talking with and eating with the man himself. Mr. Dickey.
Heather Crepe:
Heather was in Stockton at MidTown Creperies where they made a crepe just for her. I love crepes. I will have to share my first crepe story with you all sometime.
Peaches:
Peach Fest is taking place today in Marysville and today they stopped by the studio to show us their peaches and their peach cobbler that looked amazing.
Turtles:
Cambi was at South Land Park Library checking out Turtle Rama and no Turtle from Entourage was not there.
Solar Cooking:
Cambi was at Williams Land Park learning all about Solar Cooking.
Wearable Art:
This was beautiful. The San Francisco based artist does her art on fashion and then sells it through her Kickstarter page.
Sno Cone Twist:
We all love Sno Cones and adding alcohol to hit would make it just the perfect adult beverage. Well today on Good Day Chris from Hook N Ladder was in studio doing just that. No they don't sell them at Hook N Ladder but he did show how you could make them.
Kate David:
Author and Mother created a wonderful children's book series and on Tuesday July 29th she is set to release her newest. book. She also brought in some of the cutest kids to the studio.
Good Day Nutshell:
Trip:
If you are unable to watch Good Day Sacramento then you may not know for the last 4 years I have made it an annual Summer Trip to the studios on the weekend. Today was that weekend. I will have much more on my visit tomorrow but I want to take this time to say Thank you to everyone at Good Day for opening their door and hearts to me.
I am always treated like family and I appreciate them very much.
I want to send a special thank you to Cody for all he does to allow me to be there one day a year.
Weird Al:
I Don't see a video today so perhaps he is not releasing on the weekend.
