This Old House.... Today in the News 8/20/2014:
Opening Statement:
It was a little over a week ago I was looking for old clips of past actors/actresses and of the Good Day Mega Map for #GoodDay19 when the news broke about the loss of Robin Williams from what we now know by hanging.
Living with Depression is a horrible thing because you can appear happy on the outside but be miserable on the inside. With someone who suffers from depression you just never know if they 'e truly okay. You might ask and they tell you yes meaning at the moment they are or they're just afraid to talk about it.
I am about to tell you things that may not be known. I am not telling you for sympathy but I am telling you for awareness. I am telling you so that if you pass this message onto someone and save them with my story that is one less person we have to worry about ending his/her life. If you share we can keep depression in the for front and not move it to the back burner or put away and only bring it back out when another tragedy strikes.
I suffer from depression and even though I feel like I am in remission from any bad thoughts I can never guarantee that. What I can promise is I would NEVER harm another person and I can prove that.
In 2003 I had the best time of my life. I met my new best friend, I was working in a place that I liked and a job that I loved getting donations and planning events for kids in foster care. What I didn't see coming was my identity being stolen, a massive breakdown where all I wanted to do is cry, I didn't take a shower, or change clothes for 4 days and that included working Monday in Friday's clothes. I thought I could fix everything, I thought I was invincible but instead I found my life crashing down before me.
I started losing everything. I lost my home due to a massive flood and had to leave it immediately with hardly anything. In 2005 I would find new job only to work a month and they would go out of business and I would never be paid. All I wanted to do was give up. I had it. I wanted commit suicide by eating. I figured I could eat bad food get big have a heart attack and just go. Well one thing happened. I got big. I then had a T.I.A. (Stroke), After several unsuccessful spinal taps the doctors sent me to UC Davis Hospital where it was discovered I had a brain/eye tumor.
In 2009 I met Ashley Williams at the Post Office and that sent me on the way to recovery. I got to meet Cody and I could tell Cody was a different breed of newscaster. He was like a brother, a neighbor, a friend and I was on my way to having Gastric Bypass.
As the Good Day commercial says I found my happy place. I didn't need food to drown my sorrows I needed Good Day to make me laugh, make me forget, make me feel like I am a person much like my best friend did and does. Yes I went through extensive therapy but it was friends and family like Cody, Mark S. Allen, Ashley Williams. Tina Macuha, Christy (BFF), Courtney Dempsey, Tessa, Eleanor and so many more that I surround myself around to keep me on the ground and I know my friends and family love me because even viewers Jenn Brian, Janet Piper, Ruben Rubio and more tell me. Today I am doing okay.

Favorite Story of the Day: 1852 Home:
This weekend starting Thursday a Historic Home is having an Estate Sale. Aaron Baruh bought the home in 1852 for $585 dollars. The home is historic so it can't change the look but the contents inside the home are all up for sale. So today Amy and Auburn Amy Picker took a trip to the home so see what deals they could find. From old newspapers to jewelry and even a bed from the 1800's can be found but it has so much more to offer making this story my favorite story of the day.
Ronald Reagan Statue:
A few months ago we met Doug Von Hawd who was picked to make the State Capitals Official Ronald Reagan Statue. Today Julissa went to Auburn to see the progress and other projects he has done or currently doing.
Todd and Nina:
Today is National Radio Day so Todd and Nina checked in and told how you can win a Ipad Mini.
Michael Marks:
A new stamp celebrating the Farmers Market will be released tomorrow and today he got the first look at it at the Cesar Chavez Farmers Market.
Good Day Open Mic
Comedian Carlos Mencia was to join Good Day but canceled so for the first time Good Day had Open Mic Night. Cambi, Cody, Courtney, and Ken all told jokes with Mark as the Emcee. If you are familiar with the weekend show from a few years ago Julian Lang would kill the hits by singing. This was telling jokes and well they "Killed" it.
Lacrosse:
Today on Good Day Kristin was with Katrina Reeves a Lacrosse player trying out for the Spanish National Team. Kristin took shots at her on the Lacrosse field while she defended the net. I don't know much about Lacrosse so I don't know the terminology even though I have a nephew who plays on a College Scholarship in Carolina, but Kristin and Katrina are very good at Lacrosse. Cody was going to be their but luckily for us Cody is safe because his equipment was donated.

Melon Mania:
Taking place Saturday at High Land Ranch is the Melon Mania. Today Tina got a preview.

Laverne Mudv from the Itty Bitty Mini Club was challenged by Ken back in April to make a Mini Good Day Set. Today she delivered and it was very impressive. Which reminded me of the other mini Good Day Set made a few years ago. Which one is your favorite?

Favorite Story of the Day: 1852 Home:
This weekend starting Thursday a Historic Home is having an Estate Sale. Aaron Baruh bought the home in 1852 for $585 dollars. The home is historic so it can't change the look but the contents inside the home are all up for sale. So today Amy and Auburn Amy Picker took a trip to the home so see what deals they could find. From old newspapers to jewelry and even a bed from the 1800's can be found but it has so much more to offer making this story my favorite story of the day.
Ronald Reagan Statue:
A few months ago we met Doug Von Hawd who was picked to make the State Capitals Official Ronald Reagan Statue. Today Julissa went to Auburn to see the progress and other projects he has done or currently doing.
Todd and Nina:
Today is National Radio Day so Todd and Nina checked in and told how you can win a Ipad Mini.
Michael Marks:
A new stamp celebrating the Farmers Market will be released tomorrow and today he got the first look at it at the Cesar Chavez Farmers Market.
Good Day Open Mic
Comedian Carlos Mencia was to join Good Day but canceled so for the first time Good Day had Open Mic Night. Cambi, Cody, Courtney, and Ken all told jokes with Mark as the Emcee. If you are familiar with the weekend show from a few years ago Julian Lang would kill the hits by singing. This was telling jokes and well they "Killed" it.
Lacrosse:
Today on Good Day Kristin was with Katrina Reeves a Lacrosse player trying out for the Spanish National Team. Kristin took shots at her on the Lacrosse field while she defended the net. I don't know much about Lacrosse so I don't know the terminology even though I have a nephew who plays on a College Scholarship in Carolina, but Kristin and Katrina are very good at Lacrosse. Cody was going to be their but luckily for us Cody is safe because his equipment was donated.

Melon Mania:
Taking place Saturday at High Land Ranch is the Melon Mania. Today Tina got a preview.

Laverne Mudv from the Itty Bitty Mini Club was challenged by Ken back in April to make a Mini Good Day Set. Today she delivered and it was very impressive. Which reminded me of the other mini Good Day Set made a few years ago. Which one is your favorite?
