Opening Statement:
LARGE Earthquake strikes Napa Valley / American Canyon this morning around 3:20am. This 6.0 - 6.1 quake is the largest since the 6.9 1989 quake. Not a lot of major structural damage but they have some. More nerves are shaken and many store shelves damaged as well. Stay with Good Day and CBS 13 in the area for much more on this.

Story of the Day:
Since I started writing Today in the News over a year ago I have seen and wrote about breaking news stories but I don't think I have ever wrote about a story like the Napa Quake,
I have been through 3 Earthquakes in my life that I felt. The first was 1989 Loma Prieta that was 6.9. Last year during a Sacramento Kings Rally a small quake hit our area that I felt and then in March a 3.1 Quake hit during my visit to Los Angeles area. I can't confirm I felt the one today only because I woke up around the time it struck but that might mean it was just a coincidence. However my Best Friend who lives in Benicia did feel it and describe it as more shaking than rolling like she felt in a 2007 quake.
I am so sorry to those who lost homes, businesses and possessions in today's quake. My heart is broken for everyone but I know one thing is for sure at the time of adversity we in California step up and help each other and I know we will this time.
I want to take the time and talk about the coverage on Good Day Sacramento. YAY TO GO!!! I was glued to my TV from 7am-1pm on your expanded wall to wall coverage. Nobody does it better than all of you did today. From Melissa to Cambi to Lori and Good Photog Journalist Peter. But I can't forget about Nina who has never covered breaking news until today and she did it like she was Katie Couric.
Yes, the reporters in the scene got a first hand look at the devastation from the building that fell or caught fire as well as hearing the stories from those who went through first hand but Amy and Cody also did an excellent sharing the stories from viewers, checking on information about events taking place and keeping everyone informed plus the checking of social media as well as checking on the major business of wine that really helps Napa go.
After the show it was reported a baby was born during the earthquake and the parents are looking for names.
A couple of last minute business to take care of: As you know the show was not normal today there for the 2 staples of the show did not get covered Ask Eleanor and of course Dishin With Tina. Dishin With Tina will be seen on Wednesday's Good Day Sacramento
