Opening Statement:
Today's Opening Statement is an Open Letter to the Cast and Crew to Good Day Sacramento.
For the last 4 years I have been lucky enough to visit the weekend show. Each of the 4 years I have taken the opportunity to learn something. My first year I was able to learn what it's like for the anchors during the show. While we are watching segments they are preparing the next thing or watching with us so they can chime in. During breaks they are most likely getting instruction from the producer on what's ahead.
My second year I was able to spend some time in the Control Booth. That is a show within the show. They have so much going on they have to stay on their toes. It is my hope I can spend sometime with Producer Tessa to learn as much as possible from her because she is so helpful in teaching me things and answering questions I have about what is going on during or after a live shot much like in Friday's fire Kristin had a mic issue so she had to work around that to keep the information coming all while Kristin was working on her mic issue that may not have been the fault of anyone but the power in the area.
Year 3 I learned more about what is going on during the live shots
This year I was able to learn that Satellites are not always just directed at DirectV. No they don't always cooperate with Television either despite have some of the best equipment in the business. If the satellite goes down you lose your interview hence the reason Gabe from Travelzoo never appeared as scheduled.
I personally want to thank everyone at Good Day for the time I was with you yesterday and I am so glad you not only open your hearts to me but your door so that I could bring the donuts in. No seriously I can't thank each and everyone of you enough for treating me so well and allowing me to learn about the BEST Show in Morning Television.
I Especially went to say thank you to my friend Cody for setting it all up not only this year but the last 3 prior to and I hope you will let me come back next year.

It’s a story that will pull at your heart strings! Two years ago 4 year old Bryce Weber was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. At a loss for words upon discovering his diagnosis, Bryce’s father Erec decided to turn this negative into a positive for his son and other kids fighting cancer. He wrote and self-published Bryce & The Blood Ninjas, a children’s book that explained what was happening in Bryce’s body and also inspire him to not be afraid.

Lori was given a challenge to take the Ice Bucket Challenge and then donate $10 to a charity, or not take the challenge at donate $100 for a charity. Today on Good Day leading off with Hunter from Now 100.5 Nina offered up the challenge to him and he took it. Nina got to dump ice water in a bucket of ice on his head now he gets to challenge someone.
Cambi challenged her mom Jebi (Awesome name by the way) and she did.
Kevin and Kat both PA's at Good Day also took the challenge but it was at 9:58am where Lori, Amy, and Cody all took the challenge together. Each of them will donate at least $10 to Lori's Friend Brandy Overby and her husband Ryan. Brandy has the cancer and has started a YouTube Page as well as other pages. If you want to offer the challenge to your friends, family and / or coworkers remember it is only $10 you need to donate and it's going to a GREAT young woman who does not deserve this nor does anyone with cancer. This is truly my Favorite Story of the Day. #BrandysBattle

Today is National Ice Cream Day so today on Good Day Burr's Fountain, Happy Cow Mobile Ice Cream and of course Fenton's Creamery in Vacaville for today's Dishin With Tina all helped participate in National Ice Cream Day.

It's Sunday so Gossip Queen Eleanor was in talking about the passing of James Garner, Nick Lachey announcing he and his wife are giving birth to a girl and Matthew Broderick and Sarah Jessica Parker are having issues.
Joe's Left Foot:
This inspiring man is taking his loss of his foot and making the best out of the situation where he started a Facebook page of all the things taking place with his left foot before he has it taken off. I strongly encourage you to like his Facebook page and send him words of encouragement.
Kit Kat:
New to the market are Baking Kit Kat Bars. Here is the problem. The directions are only in Japanese but that didn't stop Melissa and Sean from trying it and from the looks they are pretty good.

Cafe Americano in Roseville showed Melissa some of their tasty menu items.

Cambi was at a Worm Farm in Galt where they use it for compost to make gardens grow better.

Nina was in Downtown Sacramento today for the George Na' Ope Hula Festival where she herself got Lei'd with a beautiful handcrafted lei.

A new website has launch that helps actor, directors and more get together for casting calls. SacCasting makes the process much easier.
State Fair Fun:
With the State Fair Ending a week from today in the Studio were 2 guest. First Leigh Rubin of the Cartoon Rubes will be at the Fair today signing books and you can see his cartoon in Modesto Bee, Sacramento Bee and many other papers around the USA.
Space Between a Yes Cover band was also in studio to play 3 songs however the Soft Kitty Challenge was not one. You can see more from Space Between on Tuesday at the California State Fair.
Bryce's Blood Ninja:
This is a beautiful book written by Erec-Michael Weber for his son who suffers from Leukemia. I had tears building up in my eyes as Erec told the story.

Mason Jar Salad Recipes:
Mason Jar Recipes
Creamy Citrus Chicken and Orzo Salad in a Jar Recipe
Ingredients
4 whole 12-ounce mason jars
2 cup orzo (cooked according to package directions)
1 whole chicken breast (grilled or poached)
2 whole roasted red peppers (diced)
1 cup red onion (finely chopped)
2 cup fresh spinach
Creamy Citrus Dressing:
2 tablespoon greek yogurt
1/4 cup orange juice
1 1/2 teaspoon orange zest
1 teaspoon balsamic vinegar
2 tablespoon olive oil
salt and pepper (to taste)
Directions
To make dressing: In a small bowl, combine greek yogurt, orange juice, orange zest, balsamic vinegar, olive oil, salt and pepper. Whisk until well-combined. Set aside.
Using a fork, shred grilled chicken into small pieces.
Assemble each mason jar in the following order:
First (bottom) layer: 2 or 3 tablespoons creamy citrus dressing
Second layer: 1/2 cup roasted red peppers
Third layer: 1/4 cup red onions
Fourth layer: 1/2 cup orzo
Fifth layer: 1/4 cup shredded chicken
Sixth (top) layer: 1/4 cup spinach
4. Store in the refrigerator until ready to eat. When ready to serve, dump jar’s content into a bowl, toss, and enjoy!
Chopped Taco Mason Jar Salad
Ingredients
5 wide mouth quart size mason jars
1 lb ground turkey
1 can black beans, drained
1 packet taco seasoning
1¼ cups salsa
5 tablespoons plain Greek yogurt
1 quart cherry tomatoes, halved
5 mini cucumbers, sliced
1 small to medium red onion, chopped
2 avocados, chopped
juice from half of a lime
5 cups chopped romaine lettuce
Instructions
in a medium pan cook ground turkey until no longer pink. Add black beans, seasoning packet, and the amount of water stated in seasoning packet directions. Let taco mixture cool.
Divide ingredients among mason jars starting with salsa then adding greek yogurt, tomatoes, cucumbers, onions, jalapeños, avocados, taco meat, then lettuce. Place lid on and close tight. No need to vacuum seal or anything like that.
When ready to eat, shake real good, then pour into a bowl and enjoy. Can serve with tortilla chips.
Avocado Mango Black Bean Salad
Ingredients:
2 ripe but firm avocados, halved, peeled and cubed
1 tbsp fresh lime juice
2 ripe but firm mangoes, peeled and cubed
1 jalapeno, seeded and finely chopped, or 1/2 cup chopped red onion for a mild flavor)
2 tbsp lime juice
1 tsp apple cider vinegar
2 tbsp chopped cilantro, plus more for garnish
1/2 tsp sea salt
1/2 tsp honey
3 tbsp extra-virgin olive oil
1 – 15 oz. can black beans, rinsed and drained
4 cups of spinach
1 1/2 cups of cooked quinoa
Directions:
Add the avocado, 1 tbsp lime juice, mango, and jalapeno to a large bowl and gently toss.
Whisk together 2 tbsp lime juice, apple cider vinegar, cilantro, salt, honey together in a small bowl. Once those ingredients are mixed well, add olive oil slowly while continuing to whisk.
Pour dressing over avocado mixture, add black beans and gently toss.
Serve over a bed of spinach with quinoa.
Deconstructed California Roll Recipe
Ingredients
4 whole 12-ounce mason jars
2 cup white or brown rice (cooked)
1 tablespoon rice vinegar
1 teaspoon sugar
1 tablespoon soy sauce
2 whole avocados (skin and seed removed, diced)
2 tablespoon lemon juice
2 whole cucumbers (peeled, seeds removed, cut into small matchstick-sized pieces)
4 whole nori sheets (cut into small pieces)
1 cup lump crab meat (picked over)
Directions
Heat the vinegar and sugar in a small saucepan over medium heat until the sugar is dissolved. While your brown rice is still warm, pour the vinegar-sugar mixture and soy sauce over it and toss to combine. Let cool to room temperature.
While rice cools, brush avocado chunks with lemon juice to prevent browning.
Assemble each mason jar in the following order:
First (bottom) layer: 1/2 cup rice
Second layer: 1/2 cup cucumber (or 1/2 cucumber)
Third layer: 1 nori sheet (cut into small pieces)
Fourth layer: 1/4 cup crab
Fifth layer: 1/2 avocado
Store in the refrigerator until ready to eat. When ready to serve, dump jar’s content into a bowl, toss, and enjoy!

Opening Statement:
Today's Opening Statement is an Open Letter to the Cast and Crew to Good Day Sacramento.
For the last 4 years I have been lucky enough to visit the weekend show. Each of the 4 years I have taken the opportunity to learn something. My first year I was able to learn what it's like for the anchors during the show. While we are watching segments they are preparing the next thing or watching with us so they can chime in. During breaks they are most likely getting instruction from the producer on what's ahead.
My second year I was able to spend some time in the Control Booth. That is a show within the show. They have so much going on they have to stay on their toes. It is my hope I can spend sometime with Producer Tessa to learn as much as possible from her because she is so helpful in teaching me things and answering questions I have about what is going on during or after a live shot much like in Friday's fire Kristin had a mic issue so she had to work around that to keep the information coming all while Kristin was working on her mic issue that may not have been the fault of anyone but the power in the area.
Year 3 I learned more about what is going on during the live shots
This year I was able to learn that Satellites are not always just directed at DirectV. No they don't always cooperate with Television either despite have some of the best equipment in the business. If the satellite goes down you lose your interview hence the reason Gabe from Travelzoo never appeared as scheduled.
I personally want to thank everyone at Good Day for the time I was with you yesterday and I am so glad you not only open your hearts to me but your door so that I could bring the donuts in. No seriously I can't thank each and everyone of you enough for treating me so well and allowing me to learn about the BEST Show in Morning Television.
I Especially went to say thank you to my friend Cody for setting it all up not only this year but the last 3 prior to and I hope you will let me come back next year.

At a loss for words upon discovering his diagnosis, Bryce’s father Erec decided to turn this negative into a positive for his son and other kids fighting cancer. Lori was given a challenge to take the Ice Bucket Challenge and then donate $10 to a charity, or not take the challenge at donate $100 for a charity. Today on Good Day leading off with Hunter from Now 100.5 Nina offered up the challenge to him and he took it. Nina got to dump ice water in a bucket of ice on his head now he gets to challenge someone.
Cambi challenged her mom Jebi (Awesome name by the way) and she did.
Kevin and Kat both PA's at Good Day also took the challenge but it was at 9:58am where Lori, Amy, and Cody all took the challenge together. Each of them will donate at least $10 to Lori's Friend Brandy Overby and her husband Ryan. Brandy has the cancer and has started a YouTube Page as well as other pages. If you want to offer the challenge to your friends, family and / or coworkers remember it is only $10 you need to donate and it's going to a GREAT young woman who does not deserve this nor does anyone with cancer. New to the market are Baking Kit Kat Bars. Here is the problem. The directions are only in Japanese but that didn't stop Melissa and Sean from trying it and from the looks they are pretty good.

State Fair Fun:
With the State Fair Ending a week from today in the Studio were 2 guest. First Leigh Rubin of the Cartoon Rubes will be at the Fair today signing books and you can see his cartoon in Modesto Bee, Sacramento Bee and many other papers around the USA.
Space Between a Yes Cover band was also in studio to play 3 songs however the Soft Kitty Challenge was not one. You can see more from Space Between on Tuesday at the California State Fair.
Bryce's Blood Ninja:
This is a beautiful book written by Erec-Michael Weber for his son who suffers from Leukemia. I had tears building up in my eyes as Erec told the story.

Mason Jar Salad Recipes:
Mason Jar Recipes
Creamy Citrus Chicken and Orzo Salad in a Jar Recipe
Ingredients
4 whole 12-ounce mason jars
2 cup orzo (cooked according to package directions)
1 whole chicken breast (grilled or poached)
2 whole roasted red peppers (diced)
1 cup red onion (finely chopped)
2 cup fresh spinach
Creamy Citrus Dressing:
2 tablespoon greek yogurt
1/4 cup orange juice
1 1/2 teaspoon orange zest
1 teaspoon balsamic vinegar
2 tablespoon olive oil
salt and pepper (to taste)
Directions
To make dressing: In a small bowl, combine greek yogurt, orange juice, orange zest, balsamic vinegar, olive oil, salt and pepper. Whisk until well-combined. Set aside.
Using a fork, shred grilled chicken into small pieces.
Assemble each mason jar in the following order:
First (bottom) layer: 2 or 3 tablespoons creamy citrus dressing
Second layer: 1/2 cup roasted red peppers
Third layer: 1/4 cup red onions
Fourth layer: 1/2 cup orzo
Fifth layer: 1/4 cup shredded chicken
Sixth (top) layer: 1/4 cup spinach
4. Store in the refrigerator until ready to eat. When ready to serve, dump jar’s content into a bowl, toss, and enjoy!
Chopped Taco Mason Jar Salad
Ingredients
5 wide mouth quart size mason jars
1 lb ground turkey
1 can black beans, drained
1 packet taco seasoning
1¼ cups salsa
5 tablespoons plain Greek yogurt
1 quart cherry tomatoes, halved
5 mini cucumbers, sliced
1 small to medium red onion, chopped
2 avocados, chopped
juice from half of a lime
5 cups chopped romaine lettuce
Instructions
in a medium pan cook ground turkey until no longer pink. Add black beans, seasoning packet, and the amount of water stated in seasoning packet directions. Let taco mixture cool.
Divide ingredients among mason jars starting with salsa then adding greek yogurt, tomatoes, cucumbers, onions, jalapeños, avocados, taco meat, then lettuce. Place lid on and close tight. No need to vacuum seal or anything like that.
When ready to eat, shake real good, then pour into a bowl and enjoy. Can serve with tortilla chips.
Avocado Mango Black Bean Salad
Ingredients:
2 ripe but firm avocados, halved, peeled and cubed
1 tbsp fresh lime juice
2 ripe but firm mangoes, peeled and cubed
1 jalapeno, seeded and finely chopped, or 1/2 cup chopped red onion for a mild flavor)
2 tbsp lime juice
1 tsp apple cider vinegar
2 tbsp chopped cilantro, plus more for garnish
1/2 tsp sea salt
1/2 tsp honey
3 tbsp extra-virgin olive oil
1 – 15 oz. can black beans, rinsed and drained
4 cups of spinach
1 1/2 cups of cooked quinoa
Directions:
Add the avocado, 1 tbsp lime juice, mango, and jalapeno to a large bowl and gently toss.
Whisk together 2 tbsp lime juice, apple cider vinegar, cilantro, salt, honey together in a small bowl. Once those ingredients are mixed well, add olive oil slowly while continuing to whisk.
Pour dressing over avocado mixture, add black beans and gently toss.
Serve over a bed of spinach with quinoa.
Deconstructed California Roll Recipe
Ingredients
4 whole 12-ounce mason jars
2 cup white or brown rice (cooked)
1 tablespoon rice vinegar
1 teaspoon sugar
1 tablespoon soy sauce
2 whole avocados (skin and seed removed, diced)
2 tablespoon lemon juice
2 whole cucumbers (peeled, seeds removed, cut into small matchstick-sized pieces)
4 whole nori sheets (cut into small pieces)
1 cup lump crab meat (picked over)
Directions
Heat the vinegar and sugar in a small saucepan over medium heat until the sugar is dissolved. While your brown rice is still warm, pour the vinegar-sugar mixture and soy sauce over it and toss to combine. Let cool to room temperature.
While rice cools, brush avocado chunks with lemon juice to prevent browning.
Assemble each mason jar in the following order:
First (bottom) layer: 1/2 cup rice
Second layer: 1/2 cup cucumber (or 1/2 cucumber)
Third layer: 1 nori sheet (cut into small pieces)
Fourth layer: 1/4 cup crab
Fifth layer: 1/2 avocado
Store in the refrigerator until ready to eat. When ready to serve, dump jar’s content into a bowl, toss, and enjoy!
