Put Me In Coach.... Today in the News 8/6/2014:
Opening Statement:
Today's Show Us Yours on Good Day is Favorite Coach. So I started thinking about some of the coaches who have been in the NFL who always stick out in my mind. This is not so much my favorite Top 10 in order but it is a top 10 who I feel have made a difference in the game.
10. Bill Cowher - Former coach of the Pittsburgh Steelers took them to 2 Super Bowls and winning and losing 1 each.
9. Tom Landry - Former Coach of the Dallas Cowboys in my opinion he was wrongly fired for his replacement Jimmy Johnson. Tom took the Cowboys to 3 Super Bowls in 4 years in the 70's and invented the 4-3 defense.
8. Mike Holmgren - Coming from the Bill Walsh Coaching tree he helped lead the Green Bay Packers to won Super Bowl win and won loss. He also had the Seattle Seahawks in the Super Bowl however he lost then as well. He was the QB Coach for both Joe Montana and Steve Young as well.
7. Jimmy Johnson - Former Coach of the Dallas Cowboys took them to 2 Super Bowl wins in the 90's against the Buffalo Bills (No comment)
6. John Madden - Many did not know he started his Football career with the Eagles however an injury forced him out of the game so he became a Hall of Fame Coach, then later a Hall of Fame Broadcaster. John won the Super Bowl in 1976 with the Raiders and is now best known for the Highest Selling Football Video Game on the market today.
5. Marv Levy. Turning 89 years old this past Sunday this Hall of Fame coach got his start with the KC Chiefs before he took the Buffalo Bills to 4 straight Super Bowls in the 90's. Marv and the Buffalo Bills remain to this day the ONLY team to go 4 years in a row despite the outcome no one needs to remind me of. Thank you
4. Chuck Noll won 4 Super Bowls with the Pittsburgh Steelers. Noll was the creator of the Steal Curtain Defense in the 70's
3. Bill Walsh - When you look up Bill Walsh the only thing you need to know is he was a Genius. He brought the 49'ers back from the dead with drafting Joe Montana and trading for Steve Young. He was and will always be one of the BEST coaches I have EVER seen taking the 49'ers to 3 Super Bowl Wins
2. Sorry Bills Fans but Bill Belichick is won of the BEST coaches to have coach the game. Coming from the Bill Parcells coaching tree he took the New England Patriots to 3 Super Bowl wins and one season they won 18 of 19 games losing to the Giants in the Super Bowl meaning Don Shula who did not make this list but easily could have the only coach to have a perfect season. But Bill has won 218 games in his career.
1. Vince Lombardi - This Former Green Bay Packer Coach took them to 5 Super Bowls winning 3 of them He was the coach from the Frozen Tundra at Lambeau Field as well providing some of the GREATEST sound bites in NFL History.
Again this is not a perfect list because so many coaches have come and gone but these are some of my favorites.

Today's Favorite Story of the Day is a 2 for 1. One Teen wants a National Holiday while another young boy gets a special surprise.
Coaches Day:
We all have had a teacher or a coach that made a difference in our life. Today on Good Day Cambi went to Lodi to talk with a local teen who is trying to make October 6 National Coaches Day. President's Nixon and Reagan both proclaimed this day but no one really ever celebrated it and it went away but Madeline wants to bring it back. She needs 10,000 signatures by August 10th to submit it to the desk of the President. She needs our help. All you need to do is sign the petition. That's all. Let's make October 6 National Coaches Day and honor those who not only teach us about the game but about life.
This inspired teen is a no brainer for Today's Favorite Story of the Day.
Colton's Surprise:
Today on Good Day it's yet more proof that Good Day does GREAT things. Today Mark headed to KTM Motorcycle in Roseville with the help of Stuntman Gary Davis KTM gave a young boy, Colton, a gift of a life time for him. He got his very own motorcycle to race.
Why is this so unique? Colton suffers from Auto Immune Disease and has to get blood transfusions every few weeks.
Colton is such a trooper and this was a well deserved gift for this little guy making it one of my favorite stories of the day.
Noah Turns 25:
ALL Day today Noah's Bagels is celebrating turning 25 and you can celebrate with them by heading to any location and getting a bagel for just $0.25. TODAY ONLY!!!
Senior Softball:
Who said you're too old to play baseball/Softball. Don't tell that to these Seniors that Kristin talked with today on Good Day. These 80+ year olds are swinging for the fences and doing a pretty darn good job at it.
Tie-Dye Cake:
Tina saw a new Cake mix while shopping at Bel Air called Tie Dye. Last night she made the cake and today she and the others gave it a try. Apparently it taste like a candle.
Infotainment:
Mark had a couple of Infotainment segments today. First talking about Megan Fox loving Shia's kiss and then Bob Barker will be appearing on Bold and Beautiful.
Dishin:
This weeks Dishin With Tina took us too Third Strike Cafe. Today they brought some of the food into the studio. Tune into Good Day Sunday for next weeks Dishin With Tina Feature.
James Cameron:
We all know James is an awarding winning director and he has a love of deepsea diving. Now those 2 world come together to make Deepsea Challenge 3D. A Documentary that shows his expedition.

She has until August 17 for 100,000 signatures. National Coaches Day would be October 6 each year.

Today's Favorite Story of the Day is a 2 for 1. One Teen wants a National Holiday while another young boy gets a special surprise.
Coaches Day:
We all have had a teacher or a coach that made a difference in our life. Today on Good Day Cambi went to Lodi to talk with a local teen who is trying to make October 6 National Coaches Day. President's Nixon and Reagan both proclaimed this day but no one really ever celebrated it and it went away but Madeline wants to bring it back. She needs 10,000 signatures by August 10th to submit it to the desk of the President. She needs our help. All you need to do is sign the petition. That's all. Let's make October 6 National Coaches Day and honor those who not only teach us about the game but about life.
This inspired teen is a no brainer for Today's Favorite Story of the Day.
Colton's Surprise:
Today on Good Day it's yet more proof that Good Day does GREAT things. Today Mark headed to KTM Motorcycle in Roseville with the help of Stuntman Gary Davis KTM gave a young boy, Colton, a gift of a life time for him. He got his very own motorcycle to race.
Why is this so unique? Colton suffers from Auto Immune Disease and has to get blood transfusions every few weeks.
Colton is such a trooper and this was a well deserved gift for this little guy making it one of my favorite stories of the day.
Noah Turns 25:

Senior Softball:
Who said you're too old to play baseball/Softball. Don't tell that to these Seniors that Kristin talked with today on Good Day. These 80+ year olds are swinging for the fences and doing a pretty darn good job at it.
Tie-Dye Cake:
Tina saw a new Cake mix while shopping at Bel Air called Tie Dye. Last night she made the cake and today she and the others gave it a try. Apparently it taste like a candle.
Infotainment:
Mark had a couple of Infotainment segments today. First talking about Megan Fox loving Shia's kiss and then Bob Barker will be appearing on Bold and Beautiful.
Dishin:
This weeks Dishin With Tina took us too Third Strike Cafe. Today they brought some of the food into the studio. Tune into Good Day Sunday for next weeks Dishin With Tina Feature.
James Cameron:
We all know James is an awarding winning director and he has a love of deepsea diving. Now those 2 world come together to make Deepsea Challenge 3D. A Documentary that shows his expedition.
