#NapaQuake Day After... Today in the News 8/25/2014:
Opening Statement:
Normally Monday's are a recap of the weekend however the biggest story on Sunday takes control over everything today like it did yesterday. With that said I have put my Box Office recap under Final Thoughts and yesterday's Final Thoughts I was not happy with.
As I write this I still struggle to find the right words on the damage done by the Napa Quake. My heart breaks seeing the homes and businesses lost.
With Napa being the California Wine Capital the quake took a huge hit with so many bottles falling of shelves or barrels spilling their wine they are estimating millions of dollars lost. But what surprised me the most was the Library, Courthouse and Post Office. I am just amazed at the damage done.
The one thing you can count on through all of the damage is the Good Day crew giving the BEST coverage it can. Yes they will have fun and they may have protein shakes at the desk but who cares as long as they give you the information and show you all the angles they can.
Let's see how today, Monday, is handled in Today in the News, Monday Edition....

Ken's Manly Minute: 5 Rules That Make the Man
Being a man is a hell of an opportunity, and it breaks our hearts to see it squandered. So in honor of our 25th birthday, we’re celebrating the million different roads to a full-blooded guy life. Clearly, any gender that includes both Netanyahu and Nathan Lane isn’t fussy about how you get there. We’re of two minds about rules. Mind #1 says, we don’t need no stinking rules. But mind #2 is a controlling type, as in, Hey, without rules it’s bedlam out there! So we’ve walked that ridgeline and limited ourselves to 25 trail markers. If you observe these rules along your way, you’ll dazzle men, delight women, inspire children, and optimize the octane of your testosterone. Ignore them and, hell, you might still succeed. But that’s the thing about rules: Knowing them also implies knowing when to break them. And that’s damn manly, which is the only rule that really counts: Be a man about it. Conflict is a forge. Push yourself. Be like Homer. Make up your mind. Be like water.

Final Recap:
Story of the Day: The story of the day once again is the Napa Quake. Now that the quake is over it is time for the clean up to begin. Several water main breaks have occurred as well as more widespread damage. Many houses have come off the foundation and some have even been deemed unlivable.
Though no aftershocks have been felt for over 24 hours either a small quake or an aftershock was felt in Sonoma near the Geysers. Measuring 3.1 I am awaiting word on what it was. If I have the answer prior to posting I will update accordingly.
Good Day had not 1 but 4 reporters on the Day After Quake coverage today as well as Camera Guy Terry in Vallejo checking on the damage there. Melissa, Cambi, and Sean all reported from Napa while Lori was in studio checking out Social media like she did yesterday.
Box Office:
The Box office numbers are in and this week we saw Guardians of the Galaxy with an estimated $17,631,000 return to the top spot at the box office. After 2 weeks at #1 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles with $16,800,000 falls to #2. Coming in at #3 If I Stay $16,355,000. Let's Be Cops falls 1 spot to #4 with $11,000,000 and rounding out the top 5 When The Game Stands Tall with $9,000,000. In a major disappointment Sin City opens at #8 with $6,477,000
Box Office Winners:
1. Guardians of the Galaxy $17,631,000
2. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles $16,800,000
3. If I Stay $16,355,000
4. Let's Be Cops $11,000,000
5. When The Game Stands Tall $9,000,000
Pinnacle:
With any disaster news shows always role out the experts for tips and advice. Today Good Day did just that. Leo Grover from Pinnacle Emergency Management gave tips on how Napa residents and businesses will or could start to rebuild.
VMA Recap:
When the coverage of the Napa Quake wasn't taking place Mark was recapping the MTV VMA's who won, who look good, who had wardrobe issues and who stole the show. Miley won, Nikki had some issues, Jesse J looked good on stage, and Beyonce stole the show with her closing number and daughter Blue Ivy as well.
Predicting the next one:
UC Davis Professor John Rundle and his team are developing a way to predict the next quake. He joined Ken and Mark today to talk about it.
Fashion Forum:
One of my favorite things about award shows isn't so much the awards but Courtney's Fashion Forum Pass or Fail. Today, Courtney, Ken, Laura, Mark, and Lori all played it following the MTV Awards last night. Tonight the Primetime Emmy's take place so Fashion Forum should be back tomorrow.
Home Survival Kit:
Whether it be floods, earthquake or any other type of Natural disaster it is important to have a Home Emergency Survival kit in your home. Today Sac Fire PIO Roberto Padilla was in studio showing us what to carry. One thing not to carry is candles because an open flame could ignite with a gas leak however you can have battery operated candle.
Good Day Nutshell:
Infotainment:
Mark had several infotainment reports talking about last night MTV VMA's and the winners, fashion, Nikki Minaj Wardrobe mishap and Beyonce closing the show
Weird:
Mark had News of the Weird with a monkey eating ice cream in a dress, other monkeys running the India streets.
Manly:
Today's Manly Minute talked about rules that make a man. One of them is to know what you want to order when going out to eat (However if you are like me I have to check the menu because I can't eat certain foods after surgery.
Tonight/Tomorrow:
Reminder tonight join Cody, me and many more for live tweeting of Under the Dome with #Halfcow at 9pm.
Tina may still be on vacation but she may not be so I'm not quite if she will be bak tomorrow so tune in at 430am for that and the rest of the Good Day Fun.
