Smart Kids and Other Stuff... Today in the News Saturday Edition 8/16/2014:
Opening Statement:
This weekend the San Francisco 49'ers start playing at Levis Stadium So over the course of the weekend I want to talk a little bit of football.
I am not a 49'er fan but if I can't see Buffalo play then if I am watching greatness then that is okay too. However I want to talk about Candlestick Park and my football memories.
I was lucky enough to attend 2 football games there. One against the New Orleans Saints when Bobby Herbert was the Quarterback as well as Steve Young. Steve got hurt but played the next week against the Cardinals only to be hurt again and never play again.
The other game was in December of 2000. Terrell Owens was still there as so was Jerry Rice. T.O. had a game of his life with 20 catches and over 200 yards receiving. However this game wasn't about T.O. and his day this day was Jerry Rice's last game as a 49'er at Candlestick. Like most days at Candlestick the wind would blow at you no matter where you sat. So it was a bit nippy for sure but Sunny. It was a definite party atmosphere with the feeling Jerry was playing his last game.
The game was pretty much over with the 49'ers winning 17-0 so many people headed to the exit as they are known to do when the games are over however this day was not your normal Sunday game. Everyone knew Jerry was leaving so they stayed to see and honor a 49er legend after the game. Jerry addressed the crowd and they are went crazy.
Not major stories but stories but memories I can share and keep with me forever and say I remember because I was there....

Today Lori met one skater who is making a name for herself in a huge way! 15-year old Meranda Detlefsen recently placed 2nd in the Jr. World Class Figures, which earned her a place on the World Class USA Roller Sports Jr. Competition Team. This was Meranda’s first attempt at the highest event of Roller Artistic Figure Skating. Meranda has been skating and competing since she was 8 years old and has placed or won every year at the California USA Figure Championships.
