Box Office:
The Box Office Estimates are in and as I predicted last week Guardians of the Galaxy would send Lucy and her mind tricks packing. Guardians of the Galaxy finished with a High of $94,000,000. With Lucy and her mind tricks falling to 2nd at $18,263,000 James Brown Got on up in Get On Up to 3rd with $14,031,000 and rounding out the Top 5 Hercules $10,700,000 continues to fall and Dawn of the Planet of the Apes takes 5th with $8,700,000.

Truck Tracker Jason ‘Toots’ Maloney got in touch with his theatrical side!  The talented team behind the new Music Circus show “Brigadoon” gave  Toots a Scottish makeover!  Today he raided the costume closet in search of the perfect kilt!!  Plus, we learned all about the intricate art of kilt-making from a local man who’s studied every stitch of the ancient garb!!  Josh Brown from Skye Highland Outfitters will explain and demonstrate the attributes of an authentic kilt and outfit Jason in a kilt.  Plus the LA-based Costume Designer for “Brigadoon” was on hand to give us a tour of the shop!!  The costume shop will have great visuals for live teasers — kilts and other costumes will be hanging on racks, workers will be sewing costumes, etc.

Final Recap:
Favorite Story of the Day: Fern:
Mark was in Linden this morning with a legend. Fern Diamond has performed with the likes of Louis Armstrong, Phyllis Diller, Slim Pickens and more. Plus this 86 year old  works with kids and horses at her Youth camp. 



It is this one of my story that makes it an easy choice for my Favorite Story of the Day. 



The other story today is of a Mom who works out with her 3 month old baby. 



Work That Body:
In June we met the mom to be who ran in track and field while she was 7 months pregnant. Today on Good Day Melissa introduced us to Jessica. 



Jessica just gave birth not long ago (3 months) and has already returned to the gym along with other moms and moms to be.  



Jessica is also heading to the World Beauty Fitness Championships in Vegas. Based on what I saw today Jessica will clean house in what's expected to be an even more fierce competition this year. 



Jessica along with the other women found a healthy way to not only workout but to help motivate each other. 



Jessica works out with her son and encourages that through workout you don't need your scale so live on Good Day one mom smashed her scale. 



Good luck Jessica and you are my second favorite story of the day. 



Mamamomtourage:
One of my favorite recurring segments is Amanda aka Mamamomtourage. Today Melissa was with her she she gave ideas for school lunches and she took the 2 minute 2 sandwich making challenge. 



Looking For Love:
A local Davis man, Kirk placed an ad in the local Davis Paper looking for love. This was not your ordinary love ad. No, this ad was for his pet Russian Tortoise so of course it makes perfect sense that Amy answered the ad to see what it was all about plus Petco heard about it and they offered Kirk a gift card to the store. Only on Good Day.  But that is why we love them.
 


Hair Care:
She's not a doctor but Mi Helton is a Hair expert and today on Good Day she gave tips on proper hair care for kids and also adults. Plus Courtney headed out to It's My Hair Salon for a new edition of Daddy Do's. These dads are very talented with their daughters hair that's for sure. 



Sticky Fingers:
Julissa, Courtney, and Marianne teamed up with "Sticky Fingers" author and creator of Duct Tape art Sophie Maletsky to make DIY Roses with the Duct Tape. Sophie has made several items and shows you how to do it in her new book. 



Partners: 
Kelsey Grammer and Martin Lawrence team up for a new show on FX called "Partners" I have seen the commercials for the show that airs tonight and I like both actors but their interview today didn't sell me on the show. Maybe I am wrong but both actors acted like they didn't want to be there to talk about it and I get they have interview after interview but if you are trying to sell something (This case their new show) Act a little better but again maybe I am wrong.
 


S'mores + Muffins =:
So what do you get when you take a S'more and a muffin together? How about a Smuffin. Smuffin is a new craze hitting bakery's and today on Good Day Amy was with Pushkins Bakery making Gluten free and dairy free ones. Based on results Amy really enjoyed them.



Theatre: 
The Play "Brigadoon" is in town this week and today Jason went to check it out and put on a Kilt that was made right here in Sacramento. Show open Tuesday - Sunday.

This week on Good Day is Hack Week. Today on Marianne's Daily List she talked about house hold items you can use for other uses. Such as, Binder Clips to hold cords in place, or a paper towel wrapped around a beer then in a freezer. 



Manly:
Though Ken is on vacation his Manly Minute is not and today Mark filled in today talking about how to allow enough time for both family and work. 3 of the tips included Eat the frog - basically don't procrastinate and get done what you need to first. the other Use your weekend and get up early.
