Yesterday on Good Day Sacramento Marianne talked about things you can still do at the Downtown Plaza despite the construction taking place for the new Arena. From Friday Night Concerts to First run movies and of course shopping. 



In the 9am hour yesterday Courtney, Melissa, and Kristin decided to go on a scavenger hunt dressed in purple gowns to show everyone not just Macy's was the only thing open. No in fact I started doing my own research and found as many as 20 shops, restaurants, movies, Gym, and of course shops are still going strong so if in the area take in a movie, do some shopping or stop for lunch or dinner at one of the fine restaurants in the Plaza and remember to #ShopDowntown

Favorite Story of the Day: Sac State Move In Day:
Today's favorite Story of the day comes from Cody who was at Sac State Move In Day. One of the toughest things for parents and families is packing up your kids room and sending them off to college. Having been through that last year as my niece departed to Oregon State it was a very emotional time. Though it got easier as the time got longer she wasn't there it is still pretty tough. 



Today on Good Day Cody got to experience that first hand when families dropped their kids off and send the kids off to college. The families on camera did pretty well especially one student who is coming to Sacramento all the way from the Cayman Islands. 



Oh by the way. My niece did very well and is now getting set for her 2nd year and she and her 2 roommates from the dorm are renting a house just off campus. So from a dorm to a home in a year. That's pretty good for being 19. making Move In Day my favorite story of the day. 



99 Red Balloons:
Today Lori was in Ripon checking out the 9th Annual Hot Air Balloon and Kite Fest talking place this weekend. She even got to see the Wells Fargo Stage Coach Balloon. 



Rib Cook-Off:
Taking place this weekend is the Nugget Rib Cook-Off. Mark headed up to Sparks,  NV to check out all the prep work and then he will head back on Sunday to judge the contest. 



Barn Sale:
A Local couple in Lincoln are celebrating their 50th by having a large barn sale full of antiques all weekend long. 



Curling:
Taking place this weekend in Roseville are 40 teams taking part in Curling. 



Pet Tips:
Pet Expert Dana Humphrey was in studio giving tips on traveling with pets and she gave a mud bath to her dog. 



Donate Life Plate:
We've talked about the importance of organ donating before and now you can help spread the word as well as awareness by getting on the DMV List for a Donate Life Licence Plate. 



Beach Front Home:
Today on Good Day Lori was in Stockton talking with a local couple who will be on HGTV Beach Front Homes tonight at 530 following their journey in purchasing a home of their dreams. 



Americana:
Taking the place of Old West Days in Old Sacramento Courtney was in Old Sacramento checking out Americana. This will bring all the great things in America together in one spot including classic cars, trains, music and food. Courtney even drove a vintage bus. 



Ditch the Drive Thru:
Debbi Kennedy was in today talking about healthy school lunches and after school snacks for kids. Then she came back with a recipe to cook once and eat twice. 



Yoga:
Today on Good Day Kristin was in Auburn checking out the new yoga spot. Reclaimed Yoga is now open and offering classes. Ryan the owner/instructor has worked with many athletes in the past.
