Remembering a Dr. King.... Today in the News 1/20/2014:
Opening Statement:
Super Bowl XLVIII (48) is set, Unfortunately fans of San Francisco and New England are not celebrating whereas fans of Denver and Seattle are. Two good games Sunday saw the Broncos hold the Patriots to only 8 possessions giving the Broncos the 26-16 win and creating this # #SBSkirde in hopes we can get Laura Skirde from CBS13/Good Day Sacramento to represent the stations in New Jersey in 2 weeks. San Francisco fell to Seattle 23-17 which also created this #SBMarianne so that Marianne can go and from CBS Radio and Good Day Sacramento Weekend #SBNina so that Nina can go. How GREAT would it be so have Nina from Now 100.5 on Radio Row during the week?
Now on to the game. Yes, I get why fans are upset over questionable calls from the Refs in SF/Seattle game but it was not the Ref's that threw 3 Interceptions. So I urge all 49er fans Stay Classy... DO NOT look or sound like Richard Sherman from Seattle who was clearly NOT Classy post game. I like Russell Wilson, I love Marshawn Lynch because of his days in Buffalo but Sherman made it very easy to cheer for Denver in 2 weeks which I would have been most likely regardless because I want Peyton Manning to get another ring before he heads to Canton (Pro Football Hall of Fame) but still... Dude you really showed your true colors post game.
But enough of that, what is taking place Today in the News.....

Quick Thought:
Today we honor the GREAT Martin Luther King and the message he brought to all of us that forever changed the world we live in. Many will march, others will give back and Today in the News will honor by talking about him and his legacy. I am forever grateful for him because I could not even imagine hating people black, white, Mexican, Asian. We are all just people the color of skin doesn't matter to me. WE have good and bad in all of us. It is days like today that make me proud to be an American when we can all come together as 1.
We all have dreams and we all have goals. Each day the 3 stations have goals of bringing us what we find important and how to use it. They bring us how to have fun and laugh at ourselves. I have many dreams. I have a dream of providing a fun read to all of you who read Today in the News and I have a current dream of getting Good Day Sacramento Facebook to 100,000. Help me in that dream and like the page and then share it with friends and relatives so we can continue to spread the love of people and of the show.
See what took place Today in the News....
Recap:
My58:
Talked about the Snowboarding team in the upcoming Olympics. MLK celebration and Bacon Week with Hook n Ladder.
Fox40:
Today on Fox they talked about a new Soundwave system vets are using for your pets. It looks like an ultra sound to me. They had their Monday staple with KAIA fit. Talked about the March for Martin Luther King and with an American Idol hopeful. Bethany talked about Fashion week coming up next month and they too talked bacon with Mighty Tavern.
Good Day Sacramento:
430/5am: Ken kicked off the Show and Tell portion of today with his wife having a craft party during the game which led into a discussion with Tina and Julissa talking about the game. In the 5am hour Tina had Question of the Day, and 5am Club member of the day. Plus all the photos from Yeah I made that started to pour in.
6am:
In this hour Ken and Sean talked about the game and Sean was visably upset still plus Ken talked about the Denver security guard that made the mascot stop playing the drum. Julissa had her app of the week. Today's app was featured back in December on the weekend show. Mark talked about the SAG awards and Amy was working out with Beer kegs. The second Show us your... was introduced and that was Show us your Boo Boo Face from 49er fans that are not taking the loss well.
7am:
Tina showed a new product that puts your tablets, and IPads on your lap that you can also machine wash. Mark was checking out a local Oakdale shop that has custom made decorative guitars and more. Ken talked to a man who was given a Make A Wish years ago and is now giving back to help others. Mark, Ken, Julissa and Tina played fun misquoted film quotes.
8am:
In the GREAT 8 Mark continued from Country Couture were he broke one of the guitars on accidents. Jared Choate stopped by to share his new book The Now Testament Folo-Up. Amy was trying out for jobs at Sacramento River Cats and she dropped the Hot Dog gun. Teen's Tunes was played and the #9amtopic was introduced.
9am:
The 9am hour hosted by Julissa and Laura guided us through the #9amtopic as well as Trending topics. Mark was checking out one local artist and his collection of work. Amy continued from River Cats job training and decided to go all Richard Sherman on Dinger (In fun). Tina had the tough task of covering Bacon Fest that kicked off yesterday, Today she was at Capital Dime. Ken's Manly Minute was GREAT today seeing different men who influenced us in history just surprised Mark S. Allen Ken Rudulph and Cody Stark didn't make the list. Maybe next year. Finally Lori talked with some Marchers for the MLK Celebrations taking place today.
Final Thoughts:
With the holiday today I was surprised that My58 and Fox40 covered as much as they did. Each of the 3 stations covered Bacon Week with 3 different spots. I felt each of them had great coverage of the celebrations around town for Martin Luther King Day. It is important to get young people educated on this GREAT man so it's nice to see them young with the people. Today we remember and have fun with no school.
It was a pretty good day for all 3 stations. All of them also shared in the disappointment of the 49ers loss including Ken trying to talk to Sean Bennett who was not having it.
Today was a Good Day Sacramento, so what is taking place tomorrow....
Looking Ahead to Good Day Sacramento:
Good Day Sacramento men take on the Sac State Women's basketball team. Not sure who will play because Cody is off so my guess is. Ken, Julian and Julian, Mark and Cory?
