Class in Session.... Today in the News 1/10/2014:
Opening Statement:
Today on Good Day Sacramento a BIG Movie star is scheduled to join them so it got me thinking about movies and with a new episode of Mark at the Movies this weekend today's Opening Statement all tie in together with the day. We all have movies we must watch no matter how many times we've seen them so I made a list of 5 that are near and dear to my heart that I watch every time they are on TV regardless of how many times I've seen them. Movies not neccessarly in any particular order.... 5. SWAT. Why SWAT starring Ken Rudolph err Colin Farrell because it was the first movie my BFF saw together so it has special meaning.
4. The Rock. Sean Connery was so scary good it makes me forget about Nick Cage. I love this movie.
3. Breakfast at Tiffany's with the beautiful Audrey Hepburn. This movie was one of the BEST classics I have seen
2. Star Wars Episode 4, 5, 6/Saving Private Ryan... Star Wars are the movies I grew up with. I could not go see Star Wars New Hope with my brother until I went to see Grease with my sisters since they where the only ones that could drive. Saving Private Ryan (Uncut) It's not pretty but I love this movie and it has a lot of history in the story.
1. Pretty Woman with Julia Roberts who is joining Good Day Sacramento live to talk about her new movie August: Osage County. I first saw Pretty Woman with a Girl Friend but not planning on liking it I absolutely loved it. I'm not really much of a fan of Julia's after Erin Brockovich but she's a good actress and I will always watch Pretty Woman.
Do you have movies you must watch when they are on?
Here is what is taking place Today in the News.....

Final Thoughts:
We made to the weekend and what a week it was. After the dramatic Playoff football games last weekend the #1 and 2 seeds get going this weekend. The Biggest games for this area are SF vs Carolina and Denver vs San Diego both on Sunday. The other Games are New Orleans vs Saints and Colts vs. Patriots. All should be good games but we must see how the 2 Sunday games turn out locally. I am hoping Carolina takes care of SF but don't think they will and I think the Broncos will win so we can see Good Day Sacramento's Jason Maloney do weather in Bronco's gear.
Also It is looking more and more that if Cody sees Dolly it will be from a Private individual rather than any chance the station sends him on special assignment. Does anyone other than me remember the Anchor Challenge with Cody and Taryn Winter Brill. Cody wanted Dolly on the show TWB wanted Craig Ferguson. Cody flew to Tennessee and TWB did meet Craig but if memory serves me correctly Cody got the better meeting. But I still would like Cody to see Dolly in concert and I have away but legal ramifications may come into play meaning it would come from a private party which I have lined up I am just waiting on Cody to get back to me if he can go or not.
My58:
With a lot of news today My58 didn't give me much to write about but 1 Hiram Johnson HS student got a full ride scholarship from the USMC to any college of his choice. Jacob was only 1 of 3 in the area to receive this special award.
Fox40:
Today Sabrina did a few segments at the Sportsmans Expo at Cal Expo. She learned how to cook wild boar and how to Fly Cast. In studio today Cayla from Cakes and Bakes showed off her delicious treats. She doesn't have a shop but is online and she delivers to you.
Good Day Sacramento:
The 430am Show and Tell was for Cody with a man who is sworn into a church with a bowl on top of his head. The Church of Spaghetti has a man with a calendar on top of his head.
The 5am hour gave us the staples of the 5am hour. #Questionoftheday, 5am Club Member of the Day, and Marianne's Daily List. It was also the second edition of Show and Tell. This edition Cody talked about KC Chiefs coach Andy Read being in the Punt Pass Kick competition as a kid and Ken talked about Justin Timberlake going to Taco Bell after the People's Choice Awards. The Show us yours.. kicked off today with 49'er love. If you don't love them well be kind and smile and wave.
The 6am hour kicked off the fun first with Julissa learning to play broom ball on ice, Comedian Godfrey stopped by to talk about his shows at Punchline this weekend. and Marianne had the Daily Joe.
The 7am hour was more fun. Melissa was showing us the art of saving with coupons both paper and electronic. The Girl Scouts stopped by with their newest cookie. If I ate them still I would stick to the Thin Mints. Julissa learned to skate at Iceland who offers classes. Cody did attempt to throw an axe however it was more of a bounce. It's Hard to do that and the Laura / Jason debate heated up. My guess Broncos win.
In the GREAT 8 we had to clean up the joint for 2 class acts. First Julia Roberts joined via Satellite to talk about her new movie. Melissa was working out with the sweat guru in Safeway and how you can workout while shopping. Cody was out having fun with Bow n arrows while Courtney was getting cheesy at The Melt in Davis. Closing out the hour Deana Martin daughter of Dean talked about her new book before hitting the Good Day Sacramento stage to perform a song.
In the 9am hour Laura and Julissa guided us through the hour that included the #9amtopic, Courtney from The Melt Bus. Deana Martin performed another song. Melissa continued her workout at Safeway in Stockton. Ken had a GREAT Manly Minute and Cody hung out with Retiring Police Dog and Julissa checked out the new wedding fashions from the Bridal Show this weekend. Finally we didn't dance into the weekend with breaking news so now we just turn the weekend over to Cody and Amy after Julissa misspeaks and by saying Go Chargers sending Laura into a back turn. So I will say it. GO BRONCOS!!!!
Quick Thought:
Not much from My58 with their what appears to be skeleton crew. Kind of disappointed in that today. Zohreen was missing from Fox today as well. Good Day Sacramento really had a lot of good segments and I really enjoyed the two song from Deana Martin. I would like to thank her for coming on the show. Plus it was nice to see Cody and Zar makeup on his retirement day though Cody was still clearly afraid of Zar because his bite is worse than his bark... (Rim Shot)
What did we learn:
We actually learned a lot today. We learned Broom Ball, How to skate, How to fly fish and throw an axe. We learned that Courtney likes cheese and they have a church that swears you in with a holy bowl on top of your head. We learned Julia Roberts is still pretty and Deana Martin can sing as well as having great memories of her dad. We learned how to workout at the grocery store and what bad fashions must go. We learned Jason Maloney is really barrel man. and finally today we learned that Good Day Sacramento is still the BEST show on morning TV.
Looking Ahead:
This weekend we should get Nina back on Sunday from illness last week.
A fun filled 4 hours tomorrow with the likes of Cody, Amy, and Melissa and other surprise reporters.
WELCOME BACK NEDA to CBS 13 Weekends.
Dishin With Tina from Yo Zee on Sunday
Ask Eleanor on Sunday.
Until tomorrow have a GREAT rest of your Friday.
