Final Thoughts:
Baby it's cold outside, which could be why Frozen was the Number 1 movie at the Box office this week. Coming in at the second spot and I don't get why Paranormal Activity, The Marked One. The Hobbit fell to the 3rd spot and Wolf of Wall Street and American Hustle round out the top 5. I would think but I am horrible at predicting, Lone Survivor could take the #1 spot if not at least the #2 spot next week.
I want to send a special Thank you to Mark S. Allen for inviting me to the set of Mark at the Movies for this Special Edition Year in Review. Everyone at Mark at the Movies made me feel right at home and a part of the family. It was so GREAT seeing Anna Wesselman, Heather Brent and especially Ashley Williams who I miss dearly since heading down to Hollywood to further her career in the entertainment industry.
Again Thank you Mark & Mark at the Movies for the invite and I hope I am given this opportunity again in 2014.
Now onto the show this week....
On the show this week it was a reunion of sorts. First the surprise Guest Host of Ashley Williams and then the first Skype interview with Kid Jackson who really isn't a kid anymore but was when Ashley first met him. Jackson knows a lot about movies and has some pretty interesting insights about them. After Jackson Ashley and Mark talked a bit before the second Skype interview with Shawn Edwards. I've always liked Shawn and his takes on movies and still one of my favorite interviews from Shawn was with Rihanna.
One of the things I learned while there is what it meant by breaks. This weeks show had 3 breaks. Meaning They had 3 sets of commercials. Prior to the last set Mike Mechanik entered the set and after they came out of Mark's chat with Kristen Bell Mike was on the couch with Ashley, Anna, and Heather. (Lucky). Mark then tossed to Marc Woodfork for What you should be talking about prior to Mike introducing the top movies from 2013 as the final credits rolled. Because the list is long I do not have it but here is a snap shot of some of the movies to look forward to in 2014.
One last note... Over the last 2 weeks and next week Mark at the Movies has not been seen at 130pm on CW Network. It has been airing and will continue to air at 11pm PST on Sunday but I am hoping to find out if this is a temporary programming schedule or if the 11pm show is going to be the only Northern California show on Sunday. Once I learn of this I will let everyone know.
Until then Enjoy my stories on this weeks guests and I will see you at the Movies....
Guests:
Ashley Williams: Ashley Williams started her career running script and prompter for Good Day Sacramento. It was the vision of Mark S. Allen to start a little movie show on the weekend that really helped her career launch. At a the time Ashley was becoming a feature reporter for Good Day Sacramento Weekend show as well as the booking coordinator for the show. Watching her career develop over the years I would often say she is going to make it in the next 5 years. I was wrong it was 4. Leaving in late 2012/Early 2013 Ashley took her talents to Hollywood where she became a reporter for Hip Hollywood where she is currently. I cried the day she left because I felt like I was losing a child going off to college. Ashley is doing a tremendous job as I would expect her to. You can follow Ashley via Hip Hollywood and her Twitter and Instragram pages. http://hiphollywood.com/ / https://twitter.com/AshleyWTVHost / http://instagram.com/ashleywtvhost
Big Al Sams: Who is Big Al Sams? Big Al started his Sacramento Radio career at FM102.5 before moving to V101.1 where he currently can be heard 6-10am Weekdays. For more information on Big Al you can find him on Facebook and Twitter. http://www.facebook.com/BigAlSams /http://twitter.com/BigAlSams
Shawn Edwards: Shawn also a regular to Mark at the Movies can normally be seen on Fox 4 in Kansas City. Shawn Edwards is an award-winning journalist for FOX 4 News in Kansas City, Missouri and one of the country's leading African American film critics. One of my favorite interviews Shawn brought to Mark at the Movies was with Singer/Actress Rihanna about her role in Battleship. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0vJUsPLLKG8 You can find more on Shawn at Fox 4 KC, Facebook, and Twitter. http://fox4kc.com/author/sedwardskc/ / https://www.facebook.com/pages/SHAWN-EDWARDS-LOVES-MOVIES/194090456225 / http://twitter.com/#!/http://twitter.com/sedwardskc
