Opening Statement:
A couple of stories I will be addressing today are Bacon Fest and thinking about only yourself and hurting others.
Last night the big story on the news was the explosion with fire in Rancho Cordova displacing 146 people, Why? Because a couple of dummies decided it would be fun to make drugs in a bath room. I get that people grow, I get that people like it in food (I REFUSE TO GET INTO A DRUG Discussion with anyone because it's virtually impossible to win.) but that is not the purpose of this rant. If you are going to think about yourself and careless if you harm others then that makes you an idiot in my opinion Not just the people hurt in this explosion but all those who can't find a place to stay or the firefighter hurt, that just isn't cool. STOP MAKING DRUGS in your home.
All week we've had different previews of Bacon Fest. It first kicked off Sunday on Good Day Sacramento with Golden Bear and Hook n Ladder. We then continued with Hook n Ladder on My58, Mighty Tavern on Fox40, and Dime Downtown on Good Day all on Monday. Today that continues with Hock Farm Craft & Provisions showing Cody how to make Bacon Cocktails.

The assemblywoman says workers who don't get sick days choose to come to work because they can't afford taking time off, or they fear they will lose their job. She says sick days will help prevent the spread of illness like cold and flu. Here! 3 pounds (6 to 7 large) apples 3/4 cup sugar 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice 3/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon 3 cups all-purpose flour 3/4 teaspoon salt 1/2 cup Crisco vegetable shortening 1 stick plus 1 tablespoon chilled butter , cut into pieces 1/3 to 1/2 cup ice water 2 tablespoons Minute tapioca 1 beaten egg 1 tablespoon sugar Directions: 1 – In a large bowl, combine the apples, sugar, lemon juice, and cinnamon. Let stand, stirring occasionally. 2 – Preheat the oven to 400°. In a large bowl, mix the flour and salt. Using a pastry blender, work in the shortening and 1 stick of butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Sprinkle 1 tablespoon of the ice water over the flour mixture, stirring gently with a fork. Continue adding the water just until the dough holds together. Shape the dough into a ball and divide it into two discs, one slightly larger than the other. 3 – Place the smaller disc on a sheet of waxed paper, and use a lightly floured rolling pin to roll the dough into a 12-inch circle. If the dough sticks to the rolling pin, dust it lightly with more flour. Lay a 9- to 10-inch pie pan facedown on top of the circle; flip the pan over and remove the paper. For the crust, on a sheet of waxed paper, roll out the other disc to form a 14-inch circle. Do not roll the dough more than necessary. 4 – Sprinkle the tapioca on the bottom crust. Add the filling, mounding it in the center, and dot with 1 tablespoon butter. Lift the waxed paper with the remaining crust and flip it over the filling. Peel back waxed paper. Trim the edges of the crusts and pinch together the top and bottom crusts. Optional: Roll out the trimmings and cut into decorative shapes. Brush the pie with the egg, and arrange the shapes on the crust. Sprinkle with sugar. Poke fork holes or cut vents in the top crust. Bake 40 to 45 minutes, or until golden brown. OH MY GOD!!!!! Justin Bieber was arrested for DUI and Drag Racing and it's a complete fire storm. Leading off EVERY show including CNN, Fox, NBC this is the story of the day. GREAT no one cares now on to what took place Today in the News...
Good Day Sacramento was guilty of the Justin story as well but it did not overtake their show,,, Thank god. It was very Food friendly with Bacon, Pies, and a new restaurant for Vegans called Mothers. They also had a GREAT young piano player and my favorite Magician. Melissa was colored in starch and then pushed a fire truck. Courtney got a workout in and much more took place on Good Day Sacramento.
Just when you thought it was safe to go back into the water My58 hit us with this BREAKING NEWS!!!! Justin has his bail set for $2500. Okay great so for him that's like $5 because he just got done dropping $75,000 at a strip club not to mention he rented a Lamborghini.

Today on fox they did better than yesterday and like Good Day Sacramento did not devote the entire show to Justin. They did talk about Chocolate Salon and their own version of DIY with Cesar Chavez.

430/5am: Today we got a 2 for 1 special Show and Tell. The original one at the 430 hour had Ken talking about his son Malcolm turning 3. Cody got a special gift of Bow Ties from a local viewer. The second was a commerical featuring Sweet Brown (I ain't got time for that) In addition to Show and Tell Marianne had the daily list, Mark with news of the Weird and Question of the Day and Today's 5am Club Member. Best 90 minutes of TV this week. The 2 shows us your topics started... Today Pie and Bacon.
6am:
In the 6am hour Mark shared a pie recipe used from the movie Labor Day. Marianne had our Daily Joe. Ken, Mark, and Courtney spoke to LL Cool J and yes Courtney had some alone time. Melissa previewed the Folsom Color Dash and Doug the Car Czar had tips to replace your car Air Filter.
7am:
This hour we had more fun with Melissa from the Color Dash, Doug was giving more tips for your car and told how dangerous the smell of gas in your car is. Marianne talked to a local doctor about mistakes made when dieting. Mark had a couple of segments, the first being Captain and Tenille divorcing and then talking to Victor from Marie Callender's about all things pie. MAGICIAN KEVIN WARREN was back via skype with another trick. (So Impressive)
8am:
Well the 8am hour lives up to it's nickname... THE GREAT 8 was just that. Kicking off the hour was Doug back answering viewer questions about their cars. Courtney need workout tips STAT when she had pie for breakfast so she talked to Bobby at Fitness Rangers. Mel was taking the challenge of Guns and Hoses by pushing a Fire Truck. Cody got the short straw today, yes he had to go taste test bacon cocktails. It's a dirty job but someone has to do it, Right Cody? Mark was hanging out with an 11 year old Piano player... WOW! He was really good. If in the area PLEASE go see Roger Xia. The #9amtopic is was introduced and Courtney was our DJ for Court's Tunes today with the theme of the 90's.
9am:
The 9am hour was fun with Mark and Laura guiding us through with today's #9amtopic. I found today's topic very interesting and it was helpful having Audrey on staff to talk about her time as a Gold Rush Girl for the 49'ers. Courtney went to Fitness Rangers to try the Vertimax for herself and Tina, and Cody checked out a new restaurant "Mother" which caters to vegetarians. Ken had a good Manly Minute, today about the ugly topic of divorce. Melissa was back with the Police as they took their turn at the Fire Truck push challenge and beat the FireFighters... C'mon Man. Firefighters RULE!!! Of course today is Thursday and that met Gina from ThriftTown was in studio with another GREAT DIY Project that you and kids can do.
Final Thoughts:
Take out all of the Justin drama that quite frankly no one cares about the shows today did really well.
It's no secret that Good Day Sacramento will win the ratings for me but I did like the Snack options from My58 and Demarcus Cousins being named to team USA.
I also liked the Pet of the week on Fox40. Though I believe Pit Bulls can be raised right they are not the dog for me but I hope it goes to a loving home.
As I said Good Day Sacramento is my favorite and will remain that way. The love story that happens between Courtney & LL Cool J is real but all in good clean fun. Like they do each and every day is have fun but they can and do have fun with serious topics as well, and that fun will continue tomorrow when they....
