Building For The Future... Today in the News 11/4/2014:
Favorite Story / Story of the Day: Goldie Blox #RememberingMichaelDavis Charter School, Sensational Senior:
Today's show had a theme of young people learning to make a difference while we said goodbye to one man who made a difference.
Today in Show and Tell Ken showed a new toy calle Goldie Blox. Goldie Blox looks like the old Tinker Toys from when I was a kid but these toys are not just regular toys. These toys come from Oakland, CA from the brain child of Debbie Sterling a Stanford Grad in Engineering. Goldie Blox was created as a construction set for girls aimed to interest them in Engineering and each toy comes with a story to go with it and tells why/how Goldie the character builds what she builds. Goldie Blox has been in business for about 2 years. Debbie and her crew are also in the middle of building a Macy's Thanksgiving Day Float so that Meghan Trainor can perform on it this year on Thanksgiving. As a side note I really enjoyed this story because I love seeing companies step up to break the stereotype of girls not being able to do the job of mostly men dominated fields. Yesterday we remembered Officer Danny Oliver and today we remember Detective Michael Davis Jr. of Placer County from the October 24th shooting spree that took both of their lives. Again Sean and Camera Guy Dave got the difficult task of providing the pictures and story of this heartbreaking story of the senseless loss of life of a man who took the oath to protect us from evil. Officer Mike Davis Jr. lost his dad on the same day in the line of duty in 1988 when his helicopter crashed. Now both father and son will always Rest in Peace knowing they fulfilled their duty to the best of their ability.

Today Cambi was in Manteca at a Charter School where they are teaching our children everything from music to music producing to vocals and poetry. Anything Performing Arts and Visual.
With Cambi and Ken both giving these stories it is GREAT to see young people learning different things that could make the future in which we live better with proper training like the story of Barbara Crockett who was today's Sensational Senior at the age of 95 who is teaching young people the art of ballet and who along with her late husband started the Sacramento Ballet company 60 years ago this month and Courtney's daughter was blessed to take a class from Barbara.

Aunt Mary’s opened in Oakland 6 years ago and it is getting big buzz for their original and southern style breakfast.  Owner Jack Stewart worked in restaurants for decades, his aunt Mary was his mother’s sister and did the dishes from Georgia which inspired the whole menu.  Also inspired by Tennessee and Texas, it is all inspired by his aunt Mary.
