The Soap Box Derby is a slice of Americana. It’s like Apple Pie, the 4th of July and the Spelling Bee! The city of Elk Grove hasn’t hosted a Soap Box Derby Race since the mid 1970′s, but today that is about to change!

Yesterday they competed against each other and thanks to a panel of judges won! So today he was in studio to re-create his winning dish!

Rubber Band Bracelets
Kendamas are so yesterday because what’s so in right now are the original rainbow loom bracelets! These colored tiny rubber bands are sold in a kit with a plastic tool that allows kids to make over 30 different rubber band combinations of bracelets and necklaces! These kits are sold for $30 dollars and have been flying off store shelves at places like Toys’ R Us, Michael’s and Learning Express. Of these stores Learning Express is the only store that teaches classes on how to make the perfect bracelets and necklaces and today they were in studio showing Cody and Amy how to make their own!

Today was fun filled and a GREAT 4 hours of television viewing. From Mel getting into and out of a Soap box car to holding the BIGGEST snake Ever. Nina hug out with Giant Pumpkins but no sign of Charlie Brown and gang. Charity had a small role in the show today hanging with Raider fans as they tailgated out in the O.co Coliseum prior to the game. But perhaps the most fun part of the day was the competition between Cody & Amy pouring wine from a ladder. I guess Amy won because she got more in the glass but really Cody did because he poured more on the wine catching girl... Fun time.
Couple of side notes. Taco Hotdogs segment was dropped. Lori having coffee delivered from Its a Grind in Elk Grove was a very nice way to end National Coffee Day.
