What's in the Kitchen... Today in the News 6/11/2014:

Opening Statement:
I need to get this off my chest. I do not understand. What is WRONG with Donald Sterling the ousted Clippers owner. The guy is a clear cut racist wacko. He was banned from the league. He sues the NBA then doesn't sue them. Has Microsoft Billionaire offer $2.1 Billion with a "B". So the other day he said he would drop the lawsuit and take the offer but oh wait yesterday he said he is not taking the offer and will sue the NBA plus his wife is taking him to court to force the sale of the team that he can no longer own per the NBA.

Seriously if someone offered me a Billion let alone 2 Billion I'm making that transaction in a heartbeat.

But enough about him let's see what is taking place Today in the News....

Recap:
Fox40:
Today on Fox40 Top chefs from the Lodi Farmers Market came into the Fox40 Kitchen. Sabrina took a cruise and Modesto has a bread maker.

Good Day Sacramento:
430/5am:
In this hour Julissa was playing for both sides. She did weather on Good Day and CBS13. Marianne's Daily List talked about Midlife daters. Mark's News of the Weird has turtles crossing the road in Minnesota through their own tunnel. Ken's sons pool popped and Tina got fresh peaches and plums from Camera Guy Dave's own harvest in Show and Tell. Today's Question of the Day was topics to talk about while paddleboarding. Today's Show Us Yours was Ways you are keeping cool. The 5am Club member was Jules who had a baby and lost 200 lbs. - Nice Job.

6am:
In today's Daily Joe the 8th Annual IPhone picture awards were announced. Mark wants to send you to Vegas to see Justin Timberlake. Listen to Now 100.5 after 3 for your chance to win. Mark and Tina invade the SAP to have fun with Soccer. UC Davis is hold a Grad Cap art contest and you can vote for the best decorated cap.

7am:
Some music artist also love to make art, today Mark played guess the artist. Cambi was at Cresco Restaurant playing What the Heck is That Kitchen Edition. Mark introduced us to Bob Nathan. Bob recreates the one man show of the GREAT Groucho Marx in Carmichael now through Sunday. Oakley Sunglasses has a new line of sunglasses out and Mark and Ken got a preview from the Arden Fair Store.

8am:
This hour Cambi played part 2 of What the heck is that. Mark was getting geared up for World Cup checking out the Extreme Soccer Store. Teen's Tunes was played. Last week we heard Courtney went to the SnowCone Window. Today Ken and Marianne met Scott who works there as he made a beautiful cherry snowcone. Yesterday we didn't get to meet the couple the spun the #9amtopic losing 100 lbs between them so today that story ran in this hour. The White House told UC Irvine of Strict restrictions to have President Obama speak at their graduation. One Student is not happy she can't decorate her cap, get balloons and flowers so she is skipping graduation, Today's #9amtopic was Skipping Graduation Pass or Fail?

9am:
This hour was hosted by Ken and Julissa who took us through the #9amtopic and a little bit of history with the Re-Ride of the Pony Express in Old Sacramento to Missouri. Mark was at the Debbie Meyer Swim School getting water safety tips from the Gold Medal Olympian from the Mexico City Olympics. Cambi was with Reyna who volunteers at the SPCA Thrift Shop. Reyna turns 100 today. Ken's Manly Minute talked about relationships that are only using you. Tina was Dishin with Vince's Mexican Restaurant in Woodland. Tina's final question was What is your favorite Water Sport.

Final Thoughts:
Today's Theme is What's in the Kitchen. With Cambi Playing What the Heck is That, Okaka Ya making shaved ice snow cones to Fox40 being at the Modesto Bread Making Plant finishing with Tina Dishin With Tina makes for a perfect time to see What's in the Kitchen.

Bread Maker:
Today on Fox40 Flower Baking Company in Stockton is expanding. With the contracts of Sara Lee, Wonder Bread and more this Modesto based company will be adding hundreds of jobs.

Fathers Day Cruise:
Sabrina's Spotlight took us to Stockton for Opportunity Cruises. They are taking you and dad on a perfect Fathers Day on the water. Hurry and order your tickets before they fill up. Fathers Day is this Sunday June 15, 2014.

Good Day:
5am Club:
Not each day do I talk about the 5am Club Member of the day unless they do something remarkable. Most club members have a funny made up story but today long time member Jules Marie Barham did not. Her story was true. Since joining the club Jules had a child and she has lost 200 lbs. Nice job Jules.

If you want to become a member of the 5am Club email your picture to goodday@kmaxtv.com Attention 5am Club or post on the 5am Club Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/5amClub with a brief story and you could be the next member.

Turtle Tunnel:
Why did the turtle cross the road? Because in Minnesota they have their own tunnel and don't have to worry about playing the classic arcade game frogger. Splat. As seen in today News of the Weird.

What the Heck:
We all love games and we all love to play What the Heck is That. With Courtney off Cambi filled in as host with the What the Heck is That Kitchen Edition at Cresco Restaurant Supply.

Snow cone:
On the June 3rd edition of Show and Tell on Good Day Sacramento Courtney talked about her going to the Snow Cone Window. I had no clue this place existed and it has been around for nearly 50 years. When Courtney, Marianne and Amy talked about this Amy also didn't know about this place and would like to do a live shot from there. Today Marianne and Ken talked to Scott one of the workers The name of the business is Osaka Ya. It is located at 2215 10th Street Sacramento, CA 95818 9164466857.
http://www.osakaya-wagashi.com/
https://www.facebook.com/osakayawagashi
Hours Mon 9:00 am - 4:00 pm Closed now Tue 9:00 am - 6:00 pm Wed 9:00 am - 6:00 pm Thu 9:00 am - 6:00 pm Fri 9:00 am - 6:00 pm Sat 9:00 am - 5:00 pm Sun 9:00 am - 5:00 pm

Here is what the Business Information says:
Osaka-ya's Snow Cones are famous with people waiting in long lines on those hot Sacramento days. Available in several mouth-watering flavors, including bubblegum, grape, lime, root beer, cherry, lemon, orange, blue raspberry, punch, strawberry, pineapple, and watermelon. Prices are $2 for extra small, $2.50 for small, $3 for medium, and $4.25 for large.

Swim Safety:
Yesterday when Mark was on the boat he told the kids not wearing life jackets to get off. Many of them jumped into the lake. That is not what Mark said or wanted. So today he went to visit Olympic Gold Medalist Debbie Meyer at her swim school to talk about water safety in lakes and in pools. A good reminder for all of us.

Dishin:
Today is Wednesday so the in studio portion of Dishin With Tina took place today with Vince's Mexican Restaurant in Woodland. This idea came from Good Days own Kevin Hernandez but if you have an idea for Tina let her know.

Good Day Nutshell:
Groucho:
If you're familiar with the Marx Brothers then you know one of the funniest for one liners was Groucho. Though he is no longer with us Bob Nathan is bringing his recreation of the show to a small theater in Carmichael. You can see the show Now - Sunday.

SPCA Birthday:
Today on Good Day. They say it's your birthday. Well Happy Birthday to you Reyna who at 100 volunteers at the SPCA Thrift Shop. We didn't get you Willard Scott or Smuckers but we got you Cambi Brown... With a name like Cambi it's got to be good and it was.

Couples loss:
Yesterday Tina was with a local couple who lost 100 lbs. between them and they teamed up with Weight Watchers Teresa Rose to share their story. The signal was bad so they ran the story today. Nice job to both of you.

World Cup:
Do you have it? Do you have World Cup fever? I don't but most of the world does so today on Good Day Mark was at Soccer Extreme checking out all the World Cup soccer items. Also Mark and Tina with SAP provided sound of what one goal may sound like.

Cap Contest:
While you are unable to decorate your Graduation cap at UC Irvine because speaker President Obama has asked them not to be causing at least one grad to not attend because she can't have roses or balloons either that is not stopping UC Davis. They are having a grad cap contest to see whose is decorated the best and you can vote following the above link. Hurry the contest ends Friday.

Manly Minute:
In today's Manly Minute with Ken he talked about 5 ways your relationship might be getting you used. I have been on a few of these suggestions I just hope I have never done any of them to the people I care for or have in the past.

Amy:
Sunday when the weekend show signed off was the last we saw of her. Monday was not a bug deal. Tuesday was a little more though we had Lori feeling in. Wednesday we didn't have Lori or Amy plus Cody is on vacation and Laura is still on the night shift. So where is Amy? Is she sick? Is she on vacation? Is she in the muddle of contract talks? The saga will continue tomorrow and through the weekend. Tune into find out starting at 430 Thursday. Today Julissa pulled double duty on both Good Day and CBS13 Mornings with an assist from Ken.

Tomorrow:
It's almost time for Gina to come out of her DIY lab. She should be on Good Day during her normal time slot in the 9am hour.

Looking Ahead to what's coming up on Good Day Sacramento:
Thursday:
Gina from ThriftTown

Friday:
