Mark's Behind The Scenes of DART... Today in the News 4/27/2015:



Favorite Story / Story of the Day:
Today starts the final week of April and that means May Sweeps is right around the corner but why wait until May when you can start today like the one story I am most looking forward to seeing is Mark going behind the Scenes of DART. I will have much more on them later. Also on today's show Melissa is with a group that has created a new way to skateboard. 2 amazing women are getting a makeover after surviving a rough patch in life with It's My Hair Salon and Courtney will share how.  Nha is hanging out with Sac State Cheer team and much more all in today's 4/27/2015 edition of Mark's Behind The Scenes of DART... Mark: Day In The Life Of DART
Today on Good Day Mark was with DART. They are volunteers from all walks of life who, within moments, can assemble like superheroes to rescue or, sadly, recover drowning victims. Mark showed what a day in the life of a DART member is like. For more info on DART call 9167324500 or go to....

Courtney: Survivor Makeovers
Today on Good Day Courtney introduced us to Donita Lawrence Eshonna Trice. Both these amazing women got makeovers from the amazing Mi Hilton at It's May Hair Salon today because they have lived through rough past experiences, so the pampering they receive today is much deserved.

Mark was with DART. DART stands for Drowning Accident Rescue Team. Many get the R confused with Recovery but that is not the case. Yes unfortunately they do have to recover more than they would rather but most of those could be prevented if people remember to wear their life jackets. However on this day Mark  showed you everything this amazing group of volunteers do from training to full on emergency mode. Because they are all volunteers they look for community donations to help them get equipment they need to operate such as drysuits. One other thing Mark learned prior to going deeper into the operation is if you would like to be a member they are always looking for committed volunteers such as land operators, divers and more. Once Mark got into the water and dove he sent back some amazing images of what you can/can't see underwater and how tough it is for rescuers have trying to locate the victim. It could take 15 minutes to rescue the body or victim but it could also take days, weeks if they get caught in undertow or in branches. One thing that took place Mark grabbed onto Jim as part of the dive and tore his dry suit. One suit costs about $110 to replace which is why they need donations. Wrapping this up. I want to Thank you, Mark S. Allen and most of all D.A.R.T. for today's segments. Having a brother in the fire service and him working close to the team at times on the river I knew what they did but at the same time I learned so much more of what they do and how great they are. Melissa was in Rocklin with a group who created a new type of SkateBoard suspension that will help you "Do Bigger Tricks Man"  Melissa then went to The Eich Ballroom Dance Team in Roseville who is bringing back the traditional dancing with this popular class plus they did a Dance Mob in one of the classrooms. The Eich Summer Ballroom Camp takes place July 6-9 Eich Gym
 


Courtney was sharing the backstory of 2 amazing women so deserving of a makeover from Mi Hilton It's My Hair Salon. 1 with a drug issue for years has been clean for 19 years the other sexually assaulted and how she got out. They are survivors and deserve not only a makeover but credit for how they survived. During the reveal the 2 survivors went from beautiful to stunning. 



Cambi was in Lodi checking out a Winery with a man cave now serving not only Wine but craft beer at Woodbridge Uncorked. Cambi continued her day in Lodi checking out Bikes and Bites. Get your Bike tuned up and enjoy a smoothie. 



Nha was with Sac State Cheer as they get ready to head to Wyoming for a Cheer Competition.



Ken talked with Local Football Talent Arik Armstead who will be drafted in the first round of the NFL Draft this Thursday. Arik will not be attending the draft and will celebrate with family here at home.
