#NorCalStorm .... Today in the News 12/11/2014:
Favorite Story / Story of the Day:
The biggest storm to hit Northern California since 2008 has arrived. Winds from 20-30 MPH started early this morning sending trees into houses. AS the rain falls Good Day had the area covered as well as the viewers in Storm Beat Street Team. For much more on the storm this is #NorCalStorm Edition of Today in the News.
As the #NorCalStorm coverage continued we found Kristin at a house fire that spread quickly with the high winds. Nick Janes from CBS13 headed up to Kingvale for the snow coverage. As of the 6am hour it was just light rain and crews continued to prepare for the worst in snowfall. We also saw winds pick up throughout the area and San Francisco.
The Rain has finally started to fall just before the 8am hour and winds are hitting at around 38 MPH, Ron Jones reported another tree that fell in the Elverta/Rio Linda area.
Ron Jones saw another tree in the same area fall as it swayed back and forth. Tina covered a power line down as a tree fell into earlier today Kristin also covered a tree into a house and that was all in the 8am hour.

In the 9am hour Nick continued getting rain in the Sierra as prep continued. Cal Trans has deployed the most out of it's fleet of their vehicles

A Flash Flood Warning has been issued for El Dorado County until 930pm
During the 10am hour of the extended Good Day coverage of #NorCalStorm Laura reported winds of 109 in Tahoe.

For those of you who know Amber Coppedge, you know that she is one of the most selfless, generous people on the planet. You know that she will do anything to help anybody at anytime. She volunteers her time to help raise money & awareness for many different causes, serves food to the homeless, donates her time to coach soccer and volunteers for many different committees within the Sacramento Association of Realtors. She is a hardworking, driven mother of two beautiful children ages 14 & 11. She is spunky and sassy and gives 100% in anything and everything that she does.
Well friends, it is now our turn to help Amber.
Some of you may know that Amber has been battling cancer for over 2 years. She was diagnosed with Ovarian cancer in 2012 at the young age of 31, and began treatment immediately. At the time, she did not have health insurance and was forced to pay out of pocket for her medical expenses. Amber has paid hundreds of thousands of dollars since being diagnosed, for her cancer related expenses. Recently, she found out she will need immediate surgery to remove masses that the doctors have located. She will soon thereafter begin another round of chemotherapy and radiation treatment. Unfortunately, her health insurance will not cover the majority of these expenses, and she will be faced with astronomical debt.
We are asking for donations for Amber and her family, to help cover medical and living expenses while she is unable to work.
