Sacramento Loaves and Fishes
As volunteers get ready to serve the Christmas meal at Loaves & Fishes today on Good Day Marianne and Laura checked in with Sindy to see all the live action in the kitchen! Meal prep was from 6am-10:30am and then the volunteers expected to serve 800 men and women starting at 11am! They will also hand out Christmas stockings full of various hygiene items! Santa will also make an appearance! Loaves & Fishes is located at 1351 North C St. Sacramento, CA 9164460874

The Cookie Project
Today on Good Day the Cookie Project was back updating on what they will be doing today and delivering cookies to the Good Day Family. No one should be forced to work on Christmas. There are exceptions that we all recognize: Police, Firefighters, ER Doctors – but El Pollo Loco? K-mart? Starbucks? Is our need for a latte really more important than allowing the barista to spend some time with his or her family? The Cookie Project is banding together to spread some holiday cheer. On Christmas Day, they traveled the city delivering Christmas cookies to people working crappy jobs that in a rational and kinder world should be at home with their families.

Helping Amber:
A local man Brandon Haefele who donated 1000 turkeys to families in need. Now Brandon and his friend have a new challenge. This message is from the event organizer that needs our help in this time of giving. If you can help please do if you can't share this message, Retweet this message or just pass onto a friend that you think could and lets help Amber.
For those of you who know Amber Coppedge, you know that she is one of the most selfless, generous people on the planet. You know that she will do anything to help anybody at anytime. She volunteers her time to help raise money & awareness for many different causes, serves food to the homeless, donates her time to coach soccer and volunteers for many different committees within the Sacramento Association of Realtors. She is a hardworking, driven mother of two beautiful children ages 14 & 11. She is spunky and sassy and gives 100% in anything and everything that she does.
Well friends, it is now our turn to help Amber.
Some of you may know that Amber has been battling cancer for over 2 years. She was diagnosed with Ovarian cancer in 2012 at the young age of 31, and began treatment immediately. At the time, she did not have health insurance and was forced to pay out of pocket for her medical expenses. Amber has paid hundreds of thousands of dollars since being diagnosed, for her cancer related expenses. Recently, she found out she will need immediate surgery to remove masses that the doctors have located. She will soon thereafter begin another round of chemotherapy and radiation treatment. Unfortunately, her health insurance will not cover the majority of these expenses, and she will be faced with astronomical debt.
We are asking for donations for Amber and her family, to help cover medical and living expenses while she is unable to work.

Today on Good Day Marianne looked back 100 years at Christmas lists gone by and flashed forward to today. How would today’s kids feel about a Christmas stocking full of oranges and handkerchiefs? Probably not as excited as kids a hundred years ago felt about it. Based on research using “dear Santa” letters found in historical newspaper collections, a genealogy website put together a list of the top gifts of 1913 and compared them against the items most sought after by kids 100 years later.

Today on Good Day Sean was at a small community who banded together to give back this Christmas!!! A group of Lincoln neighbors spent their Christmas morning preparing and delivering food to the homeless! Any items that are left over on Christmas will be donated to the local Salt Mine.
