We Are Family.... Today in the News 2/5/2014:

 

Family: What does the word mean to you? Yes the word "Family" means Mom, Dad, Sisters, Brothers etc but does it also mean close friends? It does to me because when your friends reach the "family" stage you love them, protect them, and care about them as if they are family. You treat them as a brother, a sister etc. It doesn't have to be everyone in your life but for me I have at least 4 that have reached that stage where I would do anything for them because I know that if I needed them they would be there for me as well. So today think about the word "Family" Think about who is in your family and reach out and tell them thank you and that you love them and you will always be there for them.

430/5am:

This hour Ken led off Show and Tell showing video of his son Malcolm going to his first day of PreSchool. Ken had a heavy heart and in a rare Show and Tell, Mark showed 2 friends visiting from the upcoming Lego Movie starting Friday  Also in this hour Mark's News of the weird, #Questionoftheday 5am Club Member was introduced and Marianne's Daily List. Also today's Show us yours was a 2 for 1, today they wanted to see Legos and Buttons. More on these coming up at 6. 

 

6am:

In the 6am hour Mark showed a clip of the Lego film. It looks really good. Also in this hour Marianne had the Daily Joe that included a follow up from the little girl lego letter. Also in this hour Julissa checked out a local mom and daughter who have a button business making things out of buttons. Amy was at Jelly Donut in Vacaville checking out 8 their donuts and 8 different flavors of coffee. Melissa was preparing for her 175 foot TV tower climb.

 

7am:

In this hour Ken and Cody talked with stars from Criminal Minds as they set to debut their 200th episode on CBS. Mark continued with the Lego People in Downtown Sacramento. Melissa prepared for her 185 feet climb. 

 

8am:

Melissa DID IT! She didn't make it to the top for safety reason but did get to about 60 feet or so on the climb. Mark and the Lego people ran into Courtney who was checking out Sports  Memorabilia at California Loan and Jewelry. The HOT Button #9amtopic was introduced with the new CVS Store policy to drop tobacco products from its stores. Julissa had your App of the Week just in time to plan your Valentines festivities. Tina and Ken got a dance demo of the Musical Play Flash Dance.

 

9am:

Laura and Julissa guided us through the 9am hour and today's #9amtopic. Melissa demonstrated a rescue climb but didn't go as high up. Mark continued with the Lego people when he took them to Citizen Hotel and played a clip of Will Arnett who plays Batman. Courtney continued looking at Sports Memorabilia. Cambi was hanging out with Folsom PD talking about their K9 unit with a focus on Gunner. Ken's Manly Minute was about Rom Com's for men and his final movie he threw in as a bonus (Boomerang) Today was also Dishin With Tina day and the feature was Hook and Ladder. As a reminder this month will be a different cast members choice and this week was Amy's choice but next week will be Mark S. Allen's Choice. Today's final question of the day was "What is something you have not grown out of?

 

Final Thoughts:

Today's Good Day Sacramento tied in with my Opening Statement pretty well today. "Family" What is family? Today on Good Day Sacramento Melissa conquered a fear of heights by climbing a tower and though she did not make it up to the top she still did about 60 feet up. But she didn't do it alone. Yes, she climbed with a professional but everyone as Good Day Sacramento and the fans watching around the globe cheered her on while praying for her safety to make it down uninjured. This is what I meant by the word "Family" Everyone at Good Day Sacramento is family, they take care of each other and they protect each other just like "Family" does. But the special moment of the day was when Melissa was rescued from Husband Sean showing how much love is in the "Family" 

 

It was also a Dishin Day with Tina and like "Family" she wanted to learn where others liked to attend for meals so she had Amy take her to Hook and Ladder to show us why Amy liked it so much. Mark also kept the "Family" theme going with him hanging out with Lego People around town for the new Lego Movie, a GREAT movie for the whole "Family". Other examples of "Family" today Ken being a proud papa seeing his son after Preschool and knowing Malcolm made new friends and did very well on his own. The other example was National Signing Day for High School Athletes, Parents proud of their sons and daughters and sons and daughters about to join "New Family" on the teams they are heading to. 

 

So today when you think about who is a part of your family remember to thank them and praise them like they did with Melissa today. Each day is a climb in life, you must face your fears and fear not but do. 

 

Only 2 more days left before the weekend so what is ahead for us the remainder of the week.....
