Final Thoughts:
Everything is Awesome this week at the Box Office for The Lego Movie. For the 3rd week in a row this loveable movie takes the top spot at the Box Office sending the competition out of the room. With The Lego Movie making over $31 Million dollars it has a 3 week gross of $183,160,000 and it only cost $60M to make. Earlier this week the Movie company announced this franchise would continue with a part 2. Kevin Costner may have had 3 Day's to Kill but it barely wounded Pompeii to take the #2 spot. With that said Pompeii opened to a disappointing 3rd followed by Robocop at 4 and Monuments Men rounds out the top 5. I'm going to go out on a limb and say The Lego Movie will take the top spot for the 4th week in a row next week. The 2 main movies opening will not have enough power to overtake Lego's.
This week on Mark at the Movies, Mark was going chatting with Bob Costas and contacted his AWFUL eye infection to open the show.
Once the show got started Rachel and Mark talked about The Lego Movie in Retro Reel Review with a group of kids via Skype. They all loved the movie of course. In fact I have not seen or heard one bad comment about it.
Going into What's new this week Rachel and Mark transitioned into talking Pompeii with ease as Mark talked to Kit Harrington as well as Emily Browning and Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje with whom he did the secret Pompeii handshake with. Both Rachel and Mark liked the movie. After a short break Rachel and Mark moved to a round table discussion with the rest of the crew that consisted of Big Al Sams, Heather Brent, Anna Wesselman, and Brooke Lusk. After a brief go around of each introducing themselves they talked about Kevin Costner and 3 Days to Kill before passing it off to Mike for his rant about the movie... FYI He didn't like it.
New on DVD this week is Enders Games with Harrison Ford, Mark really liked it but Rachel HATED IT!!! Mark showed his interview with Harrison Ford where they talked briefly about Star Wars days. Mark is very giddy when it comes to the Original Star Wars partly because as a boy he was interviewed about the movie by the local News Station in Texas.
I thought the show was a very solid one from start to finish. I have to say that the round table was a very cool idea instead of the couch because it did not seem to be as crowded. I still really like having Rachel as Co host not taking anything away from Anna who also does an excellent job. Someday maybe we can see how Heather does.
Until next week I will see you at the Movies.
