Today in the news:
The Sacramento, CA area has many options for news throughout the day. In the morning most start telecasting at 430 AM and usually end at 7AM to make room for the National shows to take over 7-9AM such as NBC Today, ABC Good Morning America, and CBS Morning Show. However 3 stations stay with local news programming. KQCA a part of the MY network has a local news show hosted by Lisa Gonzales who is a former El Camino Grad who went on to become a Cal Bear and danced for the NBA's Sacramento Kings. KQCA is produced by the NBC affiliate KCRA. This show runs from 7-9AM while they talk mostly hard news they do include some fun topics as well as Traffic & Weather. Fox40 our local Fox affiliate does not turn away from local programming, they stay with the local news with a mix of Traffic, weather, cooking & some fun segments during the course of the show which airs 430-10 AM hosted by Former Radio DJ Paul Robbins & Bethany Couch. The 3rd & final local show, Good Day Sacramento is part of the CW network produced by their own producers, each hour offers a different one that operate under the CBS umbrella. This show is hosted by Marianne McClarey & Ken Rudolph. Also includes 2 former radio hosts & well known in the Sacramento area for their work in several charities Mark S. Allen & Tina Macuha. This show also features Courtney Dempsey, Julissa Ortiz, Cody Stark and former intern turned reporter Alan Sanchez. This show airs 430-10AM weekdays & 7-11AM weekends. Good Day Sacramento is not your typical news show. Yes they have News at the top &bottom of each hour hosted by Marianne & Ken from 430-7AM then handing it off to former Gold Rush Girl Audrey Asistio from 7-10AM. The traffic team of Courtney & Tina & weather department of Cody, Julissa, Amy Carabba & meteorologist Laura Skirde bring you updates throughout the hour for your daily commute to your play date forecast. However their specialty is to not only bring you today's topics but human interest stories from Kooky Collections, Fund Raisers, local garage sales & Mom & Pop Businesses in the Sacramento, Stockton, Modesto & Yolo County areas as well as all around fun throughout the show including the likes of entertainment reporter guru Mark S Allen.
This blog will introduce you to the goings on in local news from mornings to the 11PM telecasts of each program. It is my hope to not only update the readers of things stations do but also to feature an anchor/reporter feature story from each station because each of them have stories to tell; in addition I will try to bring you the in and outs of what it takes to put on a program each day with behind the scenes looks. So I hope you all stay with me because in the words of the GREAT Walter Cronkite "And that's the way it is."
