Today's Recap:
We made it to Friday June 5th. Leading off today Cody is back from not feeling well yesterday. What we can look forward to today being the first Friday of the Month DJ Alazzawi  and Drummer Flash will perform and help us dance into the weekend. Mark is in LA showing us sights from the movie Entourage. Get ready for donut coverage today is National FREE Donut Day plus the Salvation Army will show how to make your own. Melissa:
Today in Free Donut Day and Melissa is getting her dance on. She started her day at Sweet Dozen in Sacramento who is giving FREE Donut Holes. When Melissa wasn't dancing with donuts she was at the 3rd Annual Lake Canyon Elementary School Color Me Run in Galt. 



Kristin:
Kristin and Dave headed to Salvation Army to learn how to make Donuts on National Donut Day. Kristin learned the story of how between WWI WWII the Salvation Army delivered donuts to the troops. Kristin was then at Fitness Academy checking out a Club like Workout for the Summer. 



Nha:
60 WWII and Korean War Vets are headed to Washington DC to visit the memorials and to be honored. Nha was there to find out more about the trip and talked with one of the vets going. Nha was then in Lincoln checking out the Fly The Ford Ride you can take. 



Marianne:
A Taste of Summer kicks off tonight for 3 days and Hook N Ladder was in studio mixing up some cocktails while Marianne learned more about the event. 



Cody:
Cody was enjoying his new Home Theater in a Box much like what those in Japan are watching. In this theater when you want Cody to come out you just give him a Green Skittle.

Quick Thought:
Though the show started off with some tragic "News" along the Freeway once the show itself got going it was one to remember. Cody being back was a huge plus especially when he went into his new Home Theater System Box. Nha was also back from her 2 days off and she was flying high. She got to ride in an Airplane over Lincoln and it wasn't just any. It was a one of a kind Ford Plane and you can to for just $75 this weekend at Lincoln Airport. Mark was in LA for an Entourage Tour and stopped by Randy's Donuts for Donut Day. That was pretty cool. Marianne was having a cocktail for Taste of Summer with Hook n Ladder. Melissa won the Day when she was dancing and showing her Hula Hoop Skills with an inflatable donut. Plus it's always a great time when DJ Alazzawi and Drummer Flash take the stage. Kristin: Salvation Army Donut Recipe
Today on Good Day Kristin was with the Salvation Army learning the story behind how they helped the troops by making donuts and delivering them to the troops. Now you can make the donut for your friends and family.... 
Directions
Cream sugar and lard together in a large bowl. Add and beat eggs into mixture. Combine evaporated milk and water. Add water mixture to creamed mixture. Mix flour, baking powder, salt and nutmeg in large sieve and sift into wet ingredients. Add enough flour to make a stiff dough. Roll and cut. Five pounds of lard are required to fry the donuts.
This modified version of the traditional donut recipe is somewhat more appropriate for the modern home chef.
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 level teaspoon baking powder
1 tablespoon shortening
1 1/2 cups sugar
1/4 level teaspoon salt
1/4 level teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/4 level teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 cup milk
1 egg
Cooking oil or lard for deep frying
Reserve 1/4 cup of the flour for the board. Combine the remaining flour with the baking powder and set aside. Cream the shortening, 1/2 cup of the sugar, salt, nutmeg and cinnamon. Add milk and well-beaten egg and stir. Then add the flour-baking powder mixture. Work into a soft dough and roll onto the floured board into a 1/4-inch thick sheet. Cut into the desired shape and fry in the oil, heated to about 375 degrees F. Turn donuts frequently while frying. The fat should be hot enough to give the donuts a rich golden-russet color in 3 minutes. While hot, roll donuts in remaining sugar. This recipe will make about 15 good sized donuts.

Final Thought on today's show 
Cody was back and he brought the funny with him when her built a Home Theater in a Box. The best part of it was not only did it show The Flash but Tina, Corey feeding him and when he came out he needed a Green Skittle. Mark in LA taking us on the Entourage Tour was cool as well. Nha first with the Vets heading to Washington but then her taking flight in the Fly The Ford. Kristin with Salvation Army making donuts was pretty awesome with the background story. But the live shot of the day goes to Melissa when she was dancing and Hula Hooping with a Blow Up Donut. It was so funny and she even brought out the Steve Large Dance. Plus I love the first Friday of the month when  DJ Alazzawi and Drummer Flash perform on the Good Day Stage. But no show would be complete without the great work from all of the Good Day crews.
