Courtney: Fill The Boot Media Challenge:
For 3 straight years Good Day with Tina and/or Courtney have taken part and won in the Media Challenge for Fill the Boot for the Burn Institute. Today on Good Day Courtney attempted to make that 4 wins.
The Burn institute was established in 1973 after a tragic accident in 1972 that killed 22 and burned many others. From the Website: Shortly after the crash, Cliff Haskell, a Captain with the Sacramento Fire Department, convinced the Sacramento Area Firefighters Local 522 to allow him to begin to work in establishing a specialized burn unit for the area. Cliff began fund-raising campaigns and the Firefighters Burn Institute was formed in December 1973. Fill the Boot has been a largely popular Fund Raiser for the organization now into its 21st year in a row the Sacramento Firefighters Burn Institute is holding its annual Firefighters “Fill the Boot for Burns” event where people can simply donate money in a firefighter’s boot while they hang out in the intersection of the Sunrise Mall. Now that we danced into the weekend we can get ready for Cody, Melissa and the Good Day Weekend Crew to take us through Valentines Day. Thought it got started with a pre Valentines Day on todays show with Ken's Manly Minute. Mark sending Chocolate from the new Will Smith Movie and the couple who has been married for 70 years. God Bless Them. Kristin was tossing SPAM not just with her hands. Melissa was learning of a local woman winning Starbucks for 30 years and checking out cool custom belts. The big winners for today was the return of Brown Bag Throwdown where 2 local chefs went head to head though it did have a late venue change and of course today was the Media Challenge for Fill the Boot for the Burn Institute. So who won? Everyone who benefits from the Burn Unit and the funds raised. Courtney came in Second place. For all these stories and more this is #FillTheBoot Friday.... Today in the News...

Gino's Drive:
Monday on Good Day Mark was cooking breakfast for Gino a nice young man who needs our help and you can help this Valentines Day. For his 13th birthday this Valentine's Day, he wants you to donate blood to kids who need it and he's holding his own drive! He was born with literally only half a heart, yet what he has seems to be 100x more than most of us! Extra From Gino's Mom: Just a few days left tell Gino's 13th Birthday Journey 4 Life Blood Drive.  We will be serving your choice of spaghetti or ravioli with a salad and Picasa bread and a water for $ 7.50.  We will also be selling two cookies $1.50 . There will also be Gino's private gallery Auction. With a few of Gino's art pieces. That is very close to our hearts. Two gift baskets. We will also be having a area for the kids to have fun while you are donating your special gift of life. They will have the choice of coloring or decorating a cookie.
