It's sad when we as a whole lose anyone but when we lose 2 key members of the community it hurts a little more. Though I've never met either men lost yesterday they both have unique stories. The first a teacher & a coach in Modesto suffered a Heart Attack while we also lost a Pastor who lead a church & was also the spiritual advisor for the Sacramento Kings. Both men lost were also men of God and delivered his message by way of sports. These stories and more Today in the News.....

Final Thoughts: When the day started I planned on talking about what occurred on the shows today but I really feel like I need to talk about 4 positive stories from Good Day Sacramento instead.
1. The first story Mel showing the GREAT things Sutter Rehab does & can do. Strokes can & do occur to anyone at anytime regardless of age. Here are some stats & facts about strokes http://stroke.about.com/od/strokestatistics/a/StrokeStats.htm The people at Sutter Rehab can & do help nurse stroke victims as well as those with other medical issues back so that they can live a semi normal life and enjoy it. I know this is to be true with UC Davis Medical Center as well because I too suffered a minor stroke in 2006 affecting my right side.
2. The story of the Utah High School Football coach suspending his team for a bullying incident and giving them community service speaks loudly & clearly to me that bullying is an issue in this country and MUST BE STOPPED! I applaud the coach for his actions but we need more people like him to end this. It just doesn't happened to normal people like you and I but it is extremely bad for those in professional sports and in media world. We as viewers and fans have no right to threaten or take action in harming those in the media or their families as well as threaten a sports figure for not making a catch, a touchdown, a free throw, hitting a cut off man. It's a game. Enjoy it, be happy when your team wins be sad when they lose but DO NOT threaten them or family. If you don't like what a media member reports change the station but leave them & family out of it. We as a society MUST STOP bullying before we lose another life.
3. The 3rd event came from Make-a-wish and how great this organization is making wishes come true much like they did today when the Sacramento chapter gave their 5000's wish to young Ethan. His wish of a Baby Grand Piano brought tears to my eyes as he sat down to play it. At the time of this writing I am hoping video from this story is posted so all of you can see how amazing he is on it.
4. The final thought for today is I want to take the time to wish 2 wonderful people on the Good Day Sacramento staff a very happy, fun filled birthday Baillie Baker & Mark Woodfork. Mark works in the booth while Baillie is a part of the floor crew. Having met both I can verify they are hard working wonderful people. Happy Birthday to both of you.
