Today's Recap:
Nha was at the CIM that was organized by the Sacramento Running Association, a field of 9,000 marathoners and 3,500 relay runners are expected, with another 2,000 runners set to take part in the 2.62-mile. Nha was with Phawnda Moore learning Holiday Calligraphy. Calligraphy is a type of visual art related to writing and is the design and execution of lettering with a broad tip instrument or brush in one stroke as opposed to built up lettering, in which the letters are drawn. Nha was at Dance Gallery 2 getting a preview of their BIG Holiday Revue that benefits the Sutter Children’s Hospital and the United States Marines Toys for Tots program. Nha was at R Street Wal Pop Up Boutique where more than 10 designers will be coming together to give you an option for presents that are made here locally.



Dave was with Dr. Larry who is a leukemia and lymphoma patient, advocate and survivor whose Team is hoping to raise $150,000 to benefit The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS), beating his past fundraising records. Dave was at the Davis Arts Center Holiday Sale taking place from 10-5pm. With over 60 Vendors offering unique handmade gifts. Dave was checking out CuveeE Wine which is a wine tasting/wine bar featuring 30 different wines, Sparkling Wines and Champagne from around the world.




Wendy was at the Elk Grove Aquatics Club who is hosting a swim tournament called “Come in From in the Cold.” which is also serving as a canned food drive benefitting the Elk Grove Food Bank.  Wendy was at Society for the Blind with the US Blind Paralympic Team where Thirty visually impaired youth from the Sacramento area will participate in the 4th Annual Blind Youth Paralympic Sport Experience.




Melissa was with Lisa Ternero of Ternero Olive Oil Company who joined to demo a béchamel ternero-style sauce, perfect for pasta, fish, vegetables, or more. The Holidays can officially begin now that Sacramento Master Singers took the Good Day Stage prior to their annual Christmas concerts Dec 27th at St. Francis of Assisi Church. Melissa had today's Hot Headlines.




Cody and Melissa talked with Podcaster Maeve Higgins of Maeve in America. Dave: Teambuilding for Cancer
Today on Good Day Dave was with Dr. Larry who is a leukemia and lymphoma patient, advocate and survivor whose Team is hoping to raise $150,000 to benefit The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS), beating his past fundraising records. Dr. Larry and his wife, Sharon, have raised over $328,000 (and counting) for LLS and have engaged over 1,000 people to help find cures for blood cancers. Team In Training is a great opportunity to fundraise for a good cause while getting fit and staying healthy. Team In Training trains individuals and groups for 10Ks, half marathons, marathons, triathlons and cycle events across the country and around the world. This morning Deuce is meeting Dr. Larry Saltzman and learning more about Team in Training.

Nha: Holiday Calligraphy

Phawnda Moore creates calligraphy for weddings, businesses; and publications; and works in pencil, ink, pastel, colored pencil, acrylic, and watercolor, with letters written in various pens including marker pens and brushes.

Today on Good Day Dave was at the Davis Arts Center Holiday Sale taking place from 10-5pm. With over 60 Vendors offering unique handmade gifts that includes ceramics, sculpture, glass, wood, textiles, clothing, housewares, oils, candles, soaps and numerous edible goods this event is the Arts Center’s largest fundraiser, with 15% of sales directly supporting the classes, gallery exhibits and community programs offered by the non-profit organization year-round.

RECIPE:
1 cup extra virgin olive oil
1 one large yellow onion
2 cubes of chicken bouillon
1/2 cup half and half
3-4 tablespoons of flour
salt and pepper to taste
In a large sauce pan place onion and olive oil and cook to soft. add chicken bouillon. Place ingredients in blender and slowly add half and half. Add flour to thicken to desired thickness. Pour over pasta or fish. can also be used as a dipping sauce. Serve with sliced bread.
